Strategy Question...
Is there ever a strategic reason to postpone a build? Instinctively, I say nay, but this game is so well conceived and elegantly thought out, there must be a reason that it's an option. Any of you seasoned generals have any notions?

It is proper etiquette to accept a draw if you are going to win?
For the sake of argument, lets say in a no-messaging game that all the other players have moved to draw and moved to traditional stalemate positions, but you still have a strong position to win with 10 scs and two weak neighbors.

The Complete Guide to 1v1 Battles: Part II. Germany v Italy.
The Germany v Italy Map has not been scientifically assessed, thus I am looking for play-testers. In particular, RoxArt and President Eden.
I shall present my hypothesis.
Gobbledydook (1083 D)

Empirical evidence points towards Germany being significantly stronger, with Germany's performance 1.5 times that of Italy. My limited experience in GvI also points towards a German advantage. However this may also be due to errors in strategies employed by Italy. This was the case for the FvA matchup; it was proven that the imbalance in the statistics was due to incorrect play.

Hence, the hypothesis:

"Germany has a significantly superior geographical advantage."
Everyone is welcome to debate on this issue; but this issue should be determined by scientific methods, exhausting all practical openings and all branches of the openings. The FvA analysis is an example of that.

Opening Theory:

There are 2 battlefields, Austria and Iberia. To win, Italy must take all Austria and Iberia. Germany needs to keep at least one of the battlefields to win.

If Germany so wished, he can have 4 armies bearing down on Austria in 1902, and any Italian plan must therefore involve a contingency to stop the mass German mobilisation. Or Germany could go for Marseilles/Spain/Portugal while Italy is distracted in Austria. Therefore Italy also needs a way to secure Iberia against German offense.
I was literally thinking the exact same thing, Gobbledydook. Italy's most likely 18-center line is contained within the line running from North Africa through Western Mediterranean, Portugal, Spain, Marseilles, Piedmont, Tyrolia, Bohemia, Galicia, Rumania, and Sevastopol.

It seems to me that based on your observation regarding Austria in 1902, Italy has to get three builds in 1902 or prevent Germany from doing it. The key question for S01, in my opinion, is: Will Germany open to Tyrolia? If the answer is "yes" I would propose opening with the Tyrolean Lepanto. The important thing to remember is that while any Lepanto-styled opening will cost you a third build due to the convoy, a bounce in Tyrolia equalizes it because your bouncing army in Venice can take Trieste in the fall; Germany's bouncing army in Munich cannot take anything, so you maintain build parity.

If Germany doesn't open to Tyrolia, and you get in, then build parity would dictate that Italy has to attack Munich in A01. The reasoning is easy: Either Germany will cover Munich or Germany won't. If Germany covers Munich, you have denied him a third build though you deny yourself a second. This delay in buildup is a clear win for Italy because it is Italy who needs a prolonged battle to get time to mobilize. And if Germany doesn't cover Munich, you've maintained build parity (2 builds apiece) and greatly destabilized his defenses.

The thing is that most Italian opening theories don't use the Lepanto and so the second army must successfully go to Trieste to get a third build. Thus the bounce in Tyrolia cannot be risked... and so Germany often gets in, allowing Germany to get a foothold in Austria and bring the four-army shitstorm down on an unprepared Italy. But in a Lepanto you're already discounting the chance at a third build, so you don't have to go successfully Rom -> Ven -> Tri as part of the strategy and you can spare the bounce.

However from 12pm on I will be free. But for now I have 2 things on my list.
1) Sleep
2) Stun my physics teacher by getting a 65-70 on the exam. (for a class that I haven't shown up to since march, only studies for 5 hours and has a 19%

its a huge bump up, 19% (half of what I had in March to take into account all the 0s I have gotten in the assignements and tests since then).

Hopefully if I can pass the exam, especially in the areas I self taught myself in 5 hours today, I can convince my teacher the move my 19% into a 50% so I pass to course.

If not then I'm off to summerschool...
Somehow I get the feeling this didn't go according to plan...

Apologies
My noble diplomacy players, I would just like to apologize for my failure my recent 4 games, my Internet decided to die, and so i was forced to CD from all of my games. I will most likely be leaving for the summer, so better sooner then later. I wish i could have finished off my games, but seeing how I only managed to get on at the library, I will not be able to finish them. Espcially the WWI and II games that may be totally messed up now. Anywho, I will see you all in the fall

I am currently in a game FOW with no ingame messaging at all. One country was defeated very early on, Austria. I can't understand how Italy is doing so well without any messaging of any type! Are there any mods who can take a look please?

Team Choas Gunboat addition
As everyone knows, team games are rather popular, however something I have yet to see is a team gunboat, were your not allowed to stab people, but your not allowed to talk to them either. Lets make it more epic with a team chaos gunboat. Thoughts?

Glitch?
I'm trying to start a game with a 20 point buy in, and I'm sure I'm entering it properly, but when I go to the game page, it says the buy in is 1. I've nuked and recreated 3 times now and it's the same every time. I guess I don't really mind playing for one point, but I think I might have trouble attracting an opponent for one point...

Africa variant? Pacific war?
I've never heard or seen an African variant. But there seems to be one for every other land area (Americas north, central, south, Asia, Australia, and of course the original Europe). Is this because the geography isn't so interesting (having a simple coastline, tho you could have impassable areas like the Sahara Desert), or just no one cares? :\
