Oli won. On Imperial Civilization's off-topic thread (link inside), there was a brief stint of Second to Last Person to Post Wins. Now that the thread is closed, Oli won.
Looking for a replacement in a rule variant game on discord
(but the game is played in French) (but the variant is great)
This is the third edition of the "Espionage Dip" variant - not the old play-by-mail version with spying units, the newer discord version with spying players.
My question is, is there a way to use the website or any computer program to input orders for a speedier turn resolution? Is it 'legal' to make 10 accounts to input the orders or is there a way to solo moderate a game to help with this process?
In an effort to compromise the pro-ads versus anti-ads for games: Post here for your non-live games to cut down on the number of ads but still advertise games. Post game link, WTA or PPSC, and the bet. Note: this doesn't count for special rules games.

Hey yall. I have a variant design that I like but I dont really have a ton of time to make one myself. Is there someone who does that? I can credit you as co-creator.
God is right. I think it's called the Second Sino-Japanese War (the first was fought in 1894-95 by Japan and Qing-dynasty China), or the Chinese Front of WWII. And btw the former is Korean War.
And these are cool ideas! Tho I can't help about vdip-ing them, I'm glad to join their testing games if you DM me!
About variant design and implementation. There is a discord server dedicated to variant design. Link: https://discord.gg/6U5uNZxUck
The people there will be able to share advice and expertise and even help drawing perhaps. Forgive me if you are already on there and this is redundant.
As for vDip, I'm not sure implementation is possible because of Oli's absence, but others know better than me.
As for war naming conventions, they vary from language to language. After some quick sleuthing on Peppapig's profile I have surmised that they are a Chinese national. This explains their use of "Anti-Japanese War" to describe the Second Sino-Japanese war. The latter title is a scholarly naming convention invented by English speaking scholars far removed from the conflict itself. In China it is called 抗日战争 which roughly translates to "Resist Japan War." More elegantly put it would read, "The War of Resistance against Japan." Given this reality it is entirely unsurprising that Peppapig would call it the "Anti-Japanese War" in English.
Please correct me if I'm wrong Peppapig, but a quick google, Pleco, and my own experience with Chinese helped me set the record straight I hope.
In Oli's absence, tobi1 can usually help with development, but also depending on his RL schedules of course. But in principle it is possible here and was done a few times in the last year or so.
One more thing. We do the same thing in the US regarding names of wars and other historical events. For example, the scholarly name American War of Independence becomes "The American Revolution" or "The Revolution" in popular speech. We drop "American" from "The Civil War" and Americans understand what is meant.
Time can even change the names of wars, such as World War One's name being adjusted after its sequel came out several decades later.
This thread (I'm surprised to see it so buried) has a lot of resources on variant development: threadID=80327
A vDip user put together this step-by-step guide on variant creation for this website: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17oFVvGE8w2HQU-5IeNecFxl4x7VZ0OM2ApjqXY9gi6A

Peppapig: There is also the Imjin War that took place on the Korean Peninsula a few years after Qi Jiguang's death, and several other conflicts could also be included: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sino-Japanese_War
@ubercacher...At the time, the "American Civil War" was called "The Rebellion" in the North and "The War of Southern Independence" in the South. Also I just realized for the first time that your name asserts a superiority in assembling caches as opposed to making catches.
I believe that in Viet Nam the main 20th Century conflicts are identified as The Japanese War, The French War and The American War. I am unsure whether they have a Chinese War or a Cambodian War in their nomenclature.
I'm planning to leave the site but want to stay in one game (not one I'm doing well in, it's for diplomatic reasons as well as it being a very, very long game, 9 months and counting). None of my positions are doomed; otherwise I'd just Civil Disorder out of them.
Are you interested in large scale variants with lots of imbedded historical context? If so, signups for Medieval Diplomacy A1 have opened! Don't miss out on the fun! https://discord.gg/ZNjmPP6JUg
I’ve noticed an influx of players who intentionally submit nothing but hold orders for years on end until they are eliminated, even when they’re not in hopeless positions. Often these players take over strong positions in large games, only to act as though their country is in civil disorder but without giving anyone else the chance to take over the position.
Which variant was the first to introduce sealanes? They're very popular in larger variants to allow more fleets to be in the sea at once, but I'm curious as to where they first showed up.
I've come up with a six-player variant that's set in the African Great Lakes region before colonization. It features some rules like portage where armies can transport fleets across land that mean it can't be implemented here. I'm hoping to run a test game on Discord if anyone is interested: https://discord.gg/nHCducMs
Here we will start taking names for whoever wants to play Mitomon’s version of Gobble Earth Teams. The game will be anonymous and have random country assignments. These are the teams:
