I hope the name "Touches" you glitch
Hello everyone. There is a game with the new 'Classic Touchy' map called 'I hope the name "touches" you. It is the 1901 build phase, and Russia only has three Supply Centers, but the game thinks he has four, and he doesn't need to destroy a unit. Does anyone know how to fix this glitch, or know of anything we can do?
Thanks,
-p0kerg0d

Don't Process Moves
An Idea that I think would be nifty and certainly helpful to our CD problem is if we had an option that when utilized, moves would not process on certain dates. (Christmas, New Years, etc) This would make Diplomacy less of a burden on the holidays, and prevent CD's

2-way-draw impossible
I've just realized that in Hussite Wars it is impossible to draw a game with only one other player. Because of the odd number of SCs one player will always get the 24 SCs needed to win the variant. I don't know if there are other variants with a similar problem, but I think it has to be possible to make two-way-draws so I suggest to set the number of SCs needed to win one point higher than it is at the moment.

Some Classic Modifications ideas
Would any of these be possible?

Absolute fog: Can only see the location of your units and nothing else (including which sc you control)

1 Year Plan: All orders (Spring, Retreat, Fall, Retreat and Builds) are conducted in the spring turn of the year.

In other words say I was France in Spring 1901:
I would say:
Brest-MAO (retreat to Picardy-Belgium)-Portugal (retreat to West Med)
Paris-Burgandy (retreat to Brest-Gascony)-Belgium (retreat to Paris)
Marseilles-Spain (retreat to Piedmont-Venice)- Hold (Retreat to Gascony)

This would imply that Spring orders are:
Brest-MAO
Paris-Burgundy
Marseilles-Spain

Build Priority:
A Paris
F Marseilles
F Brest

Disband Priority:
A Paris (aka the army that was in Paris at the start of the year)
F Brest
A Marseilles

Now if Germany chose to bounce France in Burgundy, Paris would repeat to spring phase. So incorporating German units it could theoretically be:
Munich-Burgandy-Burgandy
Paris-Burgandy-Burgandy

Now if Germany's orders were this:
Munich-Ruhr-Burgundy
Berlin-Munich-SM Munich to Burgundy
Kiel-Holland-Belgium.

The Spring turn all orders are successful.

In the fall turn Burgandy gets bounced in Belgium and dislodged from Burgandy, so would retreat to Paris.

If (hypothetically speaking) Marsielles was dislodged in he fall, it would retreat to Piedmont and move to Venice (hence to move to Venice following the retreat option.

planning everything 1 year in advance could make for a really interesting game, however I am not sure if this mod is 'possible', but it is worth asking.

The absolute fog doesn't seem to merit another variant it seems to be just the "crap" variants Stephen Agar http://www.variantbank.org/articles/call_to_arms.htm the yearly plan is an interesting concept but seems a bit to system breaking
fasces349 (1007 D)

Absolute fog is more interesting because not only are you unaware of whos sc and armies border you, but your also unaware of which scs are under you control. (However you know the number of SC you control based on your unit count.

Would it be possible to have one season years anyways? The rulebook and coding based on has Spring/Retreat/Fall/Retreat/Winter or Builds. I would think it would be possible to have Spring/Retreats/Winter

The 1 phase year ignores the purpose of this. I wanted a game where you were forced to plan moves a year in advance

No, what I meant I was pondering if it was possible having a one season input (Spring Orders) being able to input orders for a two season year (Spring and Fall)

Absolute fog is grossly unfair. The corner powers have a drastic advantage as they can be much more easily certain that their flank is protected. Turkey for example has it especially easy in covering Armenia, Bulgaria, and BS and building in Smyrna allowing that player a very good chance of knowing they're safe.

The central powers however, are screwed. Germany would have no idea whether they're possibly being invaded by 5 players at once. Austria would have no chance whatsoever to break out and plan since they can't possibly know when they're getting stabbed. There's far too many adjacent territories. It would be ridiculously easy to destroy them. The only balance the central powers have is that they're somewhat difficult to take out. A competent Germany and Austria can hold out for a few years under a coordinated attack while diplomacy works out some help. Without knowing who's attacking or even where they're at, a coordinated defense becomes impossible, and they lose whatever balance they had.

drano019 (2710 D Mod)

That's true fasces. So why would we want to make it even more unbalanced in favor if corner powers? At least in regular FOW, the central powers have SOME vision around them. In this idea if yours, they have virtually none.

I wonder though if the game wouldn't dissolve into an endless chain of taking and losing SC's where the winner was whoever no one decided to go for. I'd like to see how it played out, but I have a feeling it would be chaotic. The bidding would just make it completely random, and the best strategy would be to try for three adjacent centers, have 2 units bounce and then send one unit out SC-hunting.

Theorically also diplomacy should never end in a win. I could see some players being able to get some momentum and be able to get in a winning position albiet hard to see position
