I think they have one of these for WebDip, so I figured I might as well make one for VDip too. Post on this thread or send me a PM with your location (no need to be precise with this - you can just give a nearby city if you want to) and I'll add you to the map.

Hello. Just signed up because I wanted to ask some questions.
What are the differences between vDip and webDip? Why do they look so similar? Was there a schism somewhere along the way? Are they two separate sites; can I have an account at each? Opinions of webDip?
gameID=13235 This was one of the most irritating games I have ever played. I was Spain. I posted a thread a few weeks back about being aware of SCs needed to win. This was the reason.
Are you like me and had people describe the NBA Finals to you as the "old" Spurs against the "young" heat? There are exactly three players on the Heat's 15 player roster who are younger than the mean age of the Spurs 15 man roster. The median aged Spur is Tiago Splitter. For the Heat it is Udonis Halam. Five year age difference for those of you scoring at home.
Hello everyone, I've been developing another (very different) variant on the lab. This one is Europe during the First Crusade. I'm starting my first test game so I need 6 others to join. The link is here http://lab.vdiplomacy.com/board.php?gameID=94 Tell me what you think and join up!
here's the game url. Germany is crippled, but your entry could turn the tide... not gonna tell you which side to pick, but I think it'll be clear what choice must be made. good luck.
Stemming from the recent thread re: cooking recipes, I came up with an idea for a game. This is directed particularly at Guaroz, mainly because he expressed interest in the culinary arts, and hails from Italy; however, the offer is there for anyone else who might be interested. Please read below.
I am leaving for my honeymoon on Monday and have recently learned I will have no internet connectivity while I'm gone. I currently have 5 open games: Alcavre, Mystery Diplomacy, Celtic Britain, Indians of the Great Lakes and Colonial 1885 (though I expect Mystery Countries and possibly Celtic Britain to be resolved by monday).
If anyone will do me the favor I would appreciate it. I don't want to CD in my games and I have never missed a turn.
About the Italian Rinascimento variant, it's one of my favorite variants and definitely one of the more meticulously made ones, but "Tyrrhenian Sea" is misspelled :/
gameID=14376 Autumn 1903. Notice that three units (Sevastopol, Black Sea, and Wales) were simultaneously ordered to Armenia, none of them under support. The move from Wales succeeded; the others did not.
This should be considered an error and bug-checked in the Ankara Crescent variant.
On a suggestion from PE, I am interested in finding those people on this site who like to play competitive Diplomacy - the way it was first created. No pre-arranged draws, no unbreakable alliances...play to win, just like the objective says.
Just as suggestion drano, but I think it would be best to start of with standard 7 player Diplomacy, and if we have 8, 9, or 10 players consider running multiple games. It seems like in 10-14 days we have enough players to fill up a second game, and I am willing to wait or play in both as necessary. My objection is that the eight player maps are rather poorly designed, specifically the Africa map. No offense meant personally to the designer, but the map is full of choke points and is conducive to the very style of play that we are trying to avoid. Then again if you guys want to play Africa, I can step aside for a game. That's just not my cup of tea.
I'll join if there is room. I've been holding back 'cause I'm pretty busy for a few weeks more, but this looks too good to pass up. If there's no more room right now, I hope this will be ongoing with more games to come.
re: Classic, probably 2 phases here. Can go as short as 1 phase, as long as 3
re: Game 2, I will probably not participate; I'm in another game at the moment which, though less competitive, still requires my attention, and I'm also picking up the Mafia hobby again after a 3-year hiatus.
36 hours works for me too. That makes 3 of us. I'm betting 36 will be the pick. I'll create the game early tomorrow most likely once I receive confirmation.
I'll play in the second one and I also vote for 36 hour phases, if nothing at all I've gained an appreciation for longer negotiation time :) I also support readying for builds and retreats.
Game 1 will be created shortly and PMs sent to those who are to be in it.
As an aside, please remember that these games are being played for competitiveness. This means that we should all be playing for the win. In these games, there should be no consideration given to points, HoF, or any other outside factors (grudges, etc.). If you don't wish to play this way, please let us know now, instead of during the game.
I'm sure you're joking cypeg, but in case you aren't, yes, no grudges. These series of games are meant to show people just how much fun a true game of competitive Diplomacy can be. I hope that everyone here will go forth and set up their own competitive Dip games and that it spreads around the site.
hi! i will be away during the next weekend, including friday, and i am afraid i wont be able to charge my smartphone or get internet access otherwise...as i have quite some games, it would be nice if two or three of you could take over for the time :)
Please, new request : units sorted by alphabetical order on the orders sheet.
I am playing my first Modern Diplomacy II game and I have had the HUGE pleasure to notice that my units are sorted by alphabetical order on the orders sheet !
It is so much easier and clearer to find my units that way ! Would it please be possible that units are sorted by alphabetical order on the orders sheet in every variant ?
