A player has been banned so Iran is in CD in the Round 1 game (gameID=14592) of the tournament. in order for the tournament to progress fairly, we strongly desire a replacement for Iran. Rules to the tournament are here: thread=41653
In Gumers's thread I proposed a no-contest vote option, which would essentially act as a cancel which keeps games on the record for later review. Oli and/or other devs, how feasible would it be to get such a voting option?
Could you send me an email with this idea, I've been talking to Kestas for a while about something like this and he might be willing to add it into the core code. I think it's an excellent idea.
@Retillion: In some cases, players might want the game to be off the record if they're cancelling -- if a game is particularly bad, with a lot of NMRs, then it may not be worth keeping. I can see the argument for keeping all games on-record though.
@jmo, sure thing pal, PM me your email (or state it here) and I'll give ya the rundown soon as I can (prolly tomorrow morning, maybe later tonight, gonna be a little busy this evening)
1. Me and Guaroz played some test 1v1s prior to the vdip cup to test various 1v1 strategies. We didn't want the public to know the success of various strategies to use it to our advantage.
2. Some games people don't want to remember, when they do something really stupid.
3. I think games cancelled because of cheaters should be cancelled. To help the mod policy of not revealing the identity of cheaters.
Vargh, I think this option fills a niche. A halfway between cancelling and drawing, since you keep a game record but don't count the game for stats/points whatever.
It would be useful to study games but then again, I don't think a lot of players study games in depth. Might be wrong though...
I'm one of them, and I daresay that my and Gobbledydook's efforts to research FvA just before this site's inaugural 1v1 tournament standardized the game's openings and general strategy. (I wasn't aware that fasces and Guaroz did work like ours, presumably and probably concurrent to ours, but regardless, whether two or four, a few people researching this stuff and using it in high-profile situations = significant progress for overall site strategy.)

Nah, it was done on a far smaller scale (2 games instead of the numerous ones you did) and was done shortly before the 2nd vdip cup, while yours and gobbles was done shortly before the 1st.
I'm not even sure Gobble is still around here, but I'd certainly be down... probably mostly for EvT, perhaps some GvI (I recall Gobble and I concluded early in our testing that it was imbalanced favoring Germany, and we focused more of our energies on FvA -- of course the general opinion now is that GvI is more balanced, so I'd think it worth a looksee).
But first, I'd like to get this new feature if we can! jmo, I'm about to hit the sack, I'll email you guys first thing in the morning. I'm not sure at all about the coding aspect (my Vienna Congress variant is in limbo because I'm being lazy about getting the coding down... and there's a step-by-step guide to it...), but anything I can contribute to help I'll be happy to do.
On Monday I will be leaving on vacation and may not have internet access. I'm not doing particularly well in any of my games but if anyone wants to take over my spots for whatever reason, PM. gameID=11622 gameID=14493 gameID=14018
Hello all! Since I've joined the site, I have played a large variety of games and have started or finised 199. I want to invite anyone who is interested to play in my 200th game on the site :)
I think they have one of these for WebDip, so I figured I might as well make one for VDip too. Post on this thread or send me a PM with your location (no need to be precise with this - you can just give a nearby city if you want to) and I'll add you to the map.

Hello. Just signed up because I wanted to ask some questions.
What are the differences between vDip and webDip? Why do they look so similar? Was there a schism somewhere along the way? Are they two separate sites; can I have an account at each? Opinions of webDip?
gameID=13235 This was one of the most irritating games I have ever played. I was Spain. I posted a thread a few weeks back about being aware of SCs needed to win. This was the reason.
Are you like me and had people describe the NBA Finals to you as the "old" Spurs against the "young" heat? There are exactly three players on the Heat's 15 player roster who are younger than the mean age of the Spurs 15 man roster. The median aged Spur is Tiago Splitter. For the Heat it is Udonis Halam. Five year age difference for those of you scoring at home.
