and to be clear I'm not laughing at anyone's issues with translating to English. I've just never seen that spelled out so forthrightly before (even if unintentionally)

So flatterer that is... Thank you, Eden! If left alone, I´d have chosen apple-polisher, just for the sound of it!

Capt - I wasn't in this game either but I do think it would be in the best interest of this great site to name the "metagamers", I've been in a few games now where there are people I suspect of that, but my time is spartan so I can't be bothered causing a fuss - it would just be helpful if you could name them so the rest of us can CHOOSE whether to play them or not, it really would be, much respect to the work you mods do

@ Gumers - this has been bad to get you riled, but calm down and get back to enjoying the site, you've been a worthy and honest opponent :)

I wasn't in this game but would someone mind telling us who the two metagamers who WERE banned as a result of cheating in this particular game were?

@ Gumers, just for your dictionary... pusillanimous? ;)
Gumers (1801 D)
23 Jun 13 UTC
Well, pusillanimous was not in my dictionary... Do you think it apply to Guaroz?
Alcuin (1454 D)
23 Jun 13 UTC
Gumers, there is a word pusilanime in Spanish, and I imagine there is similar in Portuguese. I'd say it's a stronger word that you are trying to convey. It's also longer than its close English synonym, "craven" and so not often used.

I have a couple of things to say in this area:

Firstly, I have great respect for captainmeme and what he does for this site. However, I strongly disagree with one point he made. His explanation of the "ripple effect" appears to me to be an exaggerated overstatement in order to prove his point. I cannot disagree that colluding players drastically affect the game. However, it is not nearly to the degree he describes. the WWIV map involves dozens of players. Now, if a handful of them are cheating this changes the balance of the game but it also solidifies some variable. Good players will not necessarily recognize that cheating is taking place, but they will recognize the change in variables and will act accordingly. It is simply a matter of using information. It is by virtue of strong play, not location on the board, that certain players can overcome cheating. These players appear to have put in significant time and energy to have that thrown away. They deserve to be rewarded but the moderator team has punished them and I think this is a big mistake. Hopefully something that can be learned from, now that there is no going back.

On another note, I would like to encourage the community to ignore Guaroz. His main MO on this site appears to be belittling other players on the forum and generally attempting to appear superior to other people. He is overly concerned with other people and will attempt to make their suggestion and ideas sound stupid so his opinions are not challenged. This is evidenced in many places on this site from his avid defending of PPSC variant, to his dictatorial rule of the SRGs he organizes. My opinion, the worst aspect of this is that he presents himself on the forum as a super-caring, kind, warm person - acts as if every player is his best friend. He carries this into games in a way that others will not suspect that he has the ability to stab. I believe this meta-gaming falls into an extreme grey-area that he has carved out. He defends the moderators to the end so that they will never challenge his meta-gaming (game to game, forum to game) and he can continue to inflate his stats by picking apart new players. His attacks on RUFFHAUS in the forum further show his insecurity and inability to defend his positions maturely and attack his problems at their source.

I'd like to vote for sycophant. It communicates the appropriate level of disdain without having the sexual aspect of some of the other insults.

Gopher, I was in that 7-day phase game. There were definitely more than 3 players who drew that game, and since I was mostly responsible for your elimination that game, I hope you aren't in some round-about way accusing me of being among the cheaters...

Lots of people here attacking the person and not the ideas. This gives you the measure of their quality. And someone even wondered why I used the "lynch" word. Lol.

Jimbozig
1- "defending of PPSC variant" - Really? When? And even if, what?
2 - "will not suspect that he has the ability to stab" - Losing burns, uh? :)
3 - "dictatorial rule of the SRGs he organizes." - Why the hell do you join Special-Rules-Games if you ignore the Special Rules?
4 - "He defends the moderators" - I defend their decisions when I think I got valid arguments - most of arguments I've heard against mine were personal attacks.
5 - "His attacks on RUFFHAUS in the forum..." For the first time since months I've read today a RUFFHAUS' post... and it was HE attacking me!
Jimbozig...why don't you think a minute before typing?

@Jimbozig:
Your accusation towards Guaroz really sounds like a cheating accusation. And we do not allow this here on the forums for good reasons.
It looks like this thread is going totally out of proportion here and I must say I'm really stunned. This is the first time ever I will lock a thread because no one is on his mind on this matter.
Everybody that want to discuss this any further feel free to open a new thread on the mod-forum, but I feel personally sick if I read soo many hated posts here.

New feature proposal: No-contest voting option
In Gumers's thread I proposed a no-contest vote option, which would essentially act as a cancel which keeps games on the record for later review. Oli and/or other devs, how feasible would it be to get such a voting option?

VDip Players Map!
I think they have one of these for WebDip, so I figured I might as well make one for VDip too. Post on this thread or send me a PM with your location (no need to be precise with this - you can just give a nearby city if you want to) and I'll add you to the map.

http://goo.gl/maps/EPgiV - This link is also on my profile page, so it can still be found when this thread dies.

webDip
Hello. Just signed up because I wanted to ask some questions.

What are the differences between vDip and webDip? Why do they look so similar? Was there a schism somewhere along the way? Are they two separate sites; can I have an account at each? Opinions of webDip?
