I don't get what muting someone does with regards to game. You havementioned this numerous times, Guaroz. But muting is the forum and PMs and doesn't stop someone from being in a game with you.

@amisond - I can pseak for VDip, but I find most of the players over on webdip will issue the disbands and finalize. But then I only play invite games against better players over there. They may not all be 100% classy, but they do show class when they are defeated, at least where that is concerned.

The same. When they dislodge me from my last SC, I usually finalize a disband instead of a retreat. Unless I can retreat to another SC, obviousely.

YCHTT: If you mute a player (not the country) he can't join games you are in, and you can't join games he is in.

@Oli, what you just wrote made me guess what YCHTT wrote. So I unmuted him for a while and refreshed this page so I could read him. Then I realized that he addressed a message to me.
This means that if I mute someone I can't read his posts but he can read mine! Isn't it odd?!?
Also, since I got nothing against YCHTT, I just don't want to play games where he's in because he said he'll never grant a pause, could it be possible to have an option where I stop someone to join my games, but we're allowed to talk?
If I don't want to play games where he's in, this doesn't mean that we can't be friends...

@Oli - Yeah, what the hell? Whose not so brilliant idea was it to tie muting with game joining? We already had that under control with the original codes passwording capability. Don't want someone to join your game? Don't give them the frelling password.

So we can forget about setting up leagues or large tournaments here as muting would potentially cause all kinds of problems.

People want to be sure not to be bothered by other people in games (and chat). This was the easiest (and only) solution. But sadly it's tied. You can't make this 2 options. If you mute someone he can't join any games you are in (and so can't you).
This does not only accounts for games you created, but for all games you are in.
It's that way for about a year now, and did not create any problems. Maybe if more people start reporting problems I might change that back, but the solution is removing the game-block entirely.
But as it did solve quite a lot of problems we admins had before it's very likely to stay this way for now.

@Oli - OK. I just foudn it very odd considering the mute on WebDip only mutes forums and PMs and has a separate mute for in game chat should you really want to use it, but never blocks games.

Hopefully Guaroz will take me off mute as I have recanted my decision to never pause and will just agree to disagree as to the one and only reason I would ever refuse a pause.

@Oli: Well if it's the only solution, nevermind, not a big issue after all. I got only 2 people muted and soon it could be only one.
Please never remove the game-block! It's the most interesting thing in the whole mute feature, since I just ignore trolls, I don't need their post to be hidden.

And I guarntee, in a game with him, I will never refuse a pause for any reason (well, if some one said "I need a pause for six months" I might insist they find a sitter. :-))

YCHTT my congrats. You find the only reason why I could refuse a pause. The valid reason I was looking for, in the other thread.
And since now there's this useful (what's his official name?) send-a-game-to-your-sitter feature, if someone asks for a pause longer than 3 weeks, I'd insist on "Find a sitter!" like there was no tomorrow.
And in gunboats I'd start complain with mods after 2 weeks the pause started....

@Guaroz - With him = with you (Guaroz). As in, if we were in a game and some dolt came in right after it started with "I'm going on a week's vacation tomorrow, please pause", normally I would argue for a cancel and restart, or a sitter/replacement because I think that idiot doesn't deserve to play the game. But if you were in it, I would still grant the pause out of respect for your views.

And how could you know I'm in since 95% of games I play are Anonymous?

Because I don't play anonymous... So I guess it doesn't matter game wise as we'll probably never play. And I wasn't meaning *you* would be the one wanted the pause. I meant some generic random player *other* than you or me. I believe you would never start a game when you knew you were about to go on an extended absence in a day or two just as I would never do that either.

And why the constant threats to mute remute me? Seriously... If you want to, fine. We'll mnever be able to chat and as it sounds like we'd probably never play anyhow due to my despising anonymous games (face 2 face is not anonymous and I consider anon to be a miserable variant), why go about muting me and never talking to me again? It just isn't logical.

Yeah, I like to "see" my opponents just like in a F2F game with my friends. So the only anon I play is invitationals where we know who all is in the game, just not what position they are playing and even those are *not* on my list "preferred" game types.

1. Classic WTA Fullpress non-anon
2. Crowded...
3. World IX...
4-6. Anon by invite of the three
7-9. PPSC non-anon
10-12. PPSC anon by invite

If I ever find another variant map I like, I could add a fourth into the groupings, but right now Classic, Crowded, and World IX or my favorite maps.
