how man y turns do YOU plan ahead?
Usually I plan 2 turn (predicted) ahead, but mostly I work off what happens season by season. I'm wondering if this is common?

Modern Variant border question
Is Fleet Israel to Jordan (and the reverse) a valid move in Modern? It doesn't seem like it should be, but I'm given the option in the movement drop down. It's an anonymous game, I can provide the game I'd via PM if it's needed.

EvT Openings
Openings/Strategy discussion thread. I'd like to kick this off by trying to tabulate the main strategies (which largely end up being reflected in openings anyway) that are employed in EvT so we can discuss them and further our understanding of this great variant.

I nabbed both spots. Sorry if you were looking for two different players, but like you I wanted to try it out from both ends of the board.

Correct, actually, DILK, I like to play in series.

Alright, fuzzy, one sec!
Oh. I thought you meant there were 1v1s.

I'll make some 1v1s if you like

It appears England has the upper hand in these matchups. I regret not putting a fleet in the Black sea sooner
I tend to agree that England has the upper hand, and the stats seem to agree as well, but common knowledge would have Turkey as the favorite. *shrug*

I'm going to do some slightly revised stats, removing the defeats (and solos as a result) because it is utterly absurd to think that anyone could actually be destroyed in this variant sans CDs (which shouldn't count to the stats)... doing that, I get:

91 solos for England
85 solos for Turkey

...and a discrepancy on the amount of draws... I'm replacing the surplus draw and assuming someone had a draw vote, the other power CDed and subsequently there was a draw awarded, and adjusting the solos to reflect this.

91 solos for England
86 solos for Turkey
22 2-way draws

England's advantage is miniscule. I think stats would say it's essentially balanced.

well, I don't have the brains for the President's statistical analysis, but from playing a whole bunch of E v T's I'd say they play pretty dead even, it's the best 1 v 1 we've got here

I think England is also more forgiving with its initial moves, whereas Turkey can get spread too thin way to easily.

Man I am kicking myself for not moving to Venice that last turn that I was England.
1/3 chance, that was the idea.

fuzzy I'll make you some games in a bit, I'm about to leave work as it is

Treaties?
I feel it has been too long since a good treaties game. Would anyone else be up for such a game? I would like to play Modern If possible, but am open to other suggestions.

A crazy idea that could be vary entertaining
So I took a look at the Viking map and I got this crazy idea, would anyone be interested in playing a "character" game? it would have a roleplaying aspect similar to the treaties games, but less rules, basically you would invent a character and then play the game as that character ex. Louis the Crusader, King of France, blah blah blah (personal stuff about the character)

Question
it has come to my attention that on some maps the required SC count for a solo are over half of the total count. does this mean that it is not possible for a 2 way draw?

Players Needed

We need a replacement Brazil and Song Empire on this game, and probably a Texas soon too (for some reason, although he NMR'd, it didn't put his country into CD).

Napoleonic Diplomacy
On the old site with google wave we made progress on a Napoleonic Diplomacy game, but interest kind of fell apart. I was wondering if anyone was interested in starting it up again.
