I concur with GOD. I'm super used to the arrows and would feel very very out of place if they didn't show up on the map. Not "seeing" the move would feel very clunky, even though I know I could just look at the orders tab to see what happened. Especially on bigger maps, trying to wade through the orders tab is a haul at best.
Me personally, I don't like the newer style maps that are on sites like Backstabbr and now Webdip. It's probably because it's just what I"m used to, but the colors especially I think throw me off.

And I just find the vDip version much easier to look at. Backstabbr has too light of coloring IMO with the white and light blue kind of hurting my eyes, while webdip now has more pastel coloring than vDip that I just don't like personally.
I'll also say I love our little units on the maps, as opposed to circles and triangles (even though I know the original Dip game had shapes).
I do agree some of the bigger maps have visual issues with small territories sometimes that require you to zoom in to see things, and perhaps that could be worked out better.
