I for one would enjoy the downfall of the Dutch in our game ;) However i will vote a pause for you... this time ;)

Why pause and not extend?

I already sent a message in modforum a few days ago but have yet to receive a reply. I'm doing drastic measures now since my trip is tomorrow

I also think pause is much better, given I'll disappear for a week

One of the big problems with pause instead of extend is that it requires everyone to vote for it. I think getting the same set of people to vote for 2 extends would be more likely than getting everyone to vote for a pause.

I'm down for pause or extension. Anything at all as long as it covers a whole week

I have tried contacting webdip admins as well, but they have yet to reply to the message. Are there easier ways to contact them or are they simply unavailable at the moment?

Getting rather desperate here, given my flight is in hours XD. Am I about to have my reliability tanked again due to this?

We are just ordinary people with work and life who do our best to keep things running on the site while also fulfilling our other obligations.

The whole thing took me a good 15 minutes to do, which I am happy to do and is my job on the site, I hope that this helps to understand that it is not always just one quick click and time has to be freed accordingly :)

My deepest of gratitude! I really thought the whole process was longer and more complex, and I just want things to be resolved quickly. But really, thank you and the rest of the mod team for this. I'll try to be more punctual in the future so I don't have tl resort to such desperation like this

Just as a public announcement, I personally decided years ago to no longer respond to ModForum posts that asked us to force Pauses or Extends for all of a player's games without the common courtesy of providing a list of said games. This is almost always a signal that the player is in at least 10 games; although, I remember having to once search through and identify 32 still active games across 5 full pages of games.

There are mechanisms and conventions for players to explain to other players that they need accommodations to be consensually granted in a game called "Diplomacy". We certainly receive quite angry diatribes from players forced into Pauses/Extends against their will occasionally. Forcing Pauses and Extends onto games against the will of other participants is not part of our jobs as Mods, and there are most definitely players on the site who strongly believe that we should not be interjecting ourselves into games in this manner. This is in all situations an indulgence being granted by an individual Mod out of personal generosity.

I remember a incident involving another player posting in the general Forum about being ignored by the Mods, and when I checked his ModForum thread, he had received like 5 replied from GOD asking him to do very basic things like actually pressing the Extend button and asking the other players in his games to grant him an accommodation. The nitwit spent two days bickering with GOD on the ModForum about how he did not have the time to try to use the provided tools and talk to other players....only the time to bicker with us presumably.

Also, Pauses oftentimes then require Mod intervention to get going again as one holdout who is about to lose can try to just simply kill the game for a Draw or a Cancel. GOD and I had to go through and clear out tons of older Paused games not too long ago.

@gopher27 I deeply apologize for this. It is the first incident in my case, and I will make it an effort to make it my last as to not inconvenience players and mods alike. I love this game too much and made the mistake of joining too many games. I'll also refrain from that just in case another incident like this occurs. I appreciate the understand everyone gives me for this situation
