A second question is can you ever play with them again?

Game is Stuck Due to a player who left
We paused the game, and this player has abdicated for no apparent reason. It appears he has left for good. We need to find a way to unpause the game and/or get a replacement. The game is gameID=6973

My apologies
I am truly sorry for abandoning my game last year. Without getting into detail I lost some extremely close to me and I did not handle it well. I look forward to playing with those of you who are still here and with new victims as well.

Fast Paces WW4 map.
I was wondering if I created a WW4 map in the near future that had phases of about 12 to 16 hours would enough people be interested. If I get enough people to agree on it I could even make it less than 12 hour phases. Would anyone be interested?

New variant on a variant
1v1 games are all very well (just been thrashed - and quite enjoyed it), but it seems crazy that someone from France can just walk into Germany on their way to Austria.

Bug in settings?
For a few days now, it's not been possible to change my quote in the 'settings' tab. It seems like it started when the new 'give-away' feature was implemented. Possibly related?

Shep, you got it. My most common complaint as I read comments is "Man, his vote counts the same as mine. That sucks... I hope he doesn't vote." It sounds arrogant but honestly, if you can't name the major presidential candidates, running mates, and platform issues then you should steer clear of a voting booth. Sigh.
Running mates? Um, when did we get on them? And who knows who will be tapped by Romney (assuming he wins) or even Obama (it isn't unprecedented for an incumbent to pick a different running mate who he thinks will have a better chance of replacing him in four years).

and don't forgot how everyone seems to think dropping a large number of profane words will somehow make their opinion valid
I always like the "learn to speel b*tch" posts or those who profanely denoucne another grammar with the most basic "your" versus "you're" errors combined with incorrect verbs of be and bad spelling like "Your grammer be atrosious."
And then I turn around and typo denounce. <*face palm*>
And "another's." Geez!

I agree with LoveDove in so many ways it isn't even funny.

My wife is in Human Resources, and I'm a linguist by training, so we always try our hardest to make sure our oldest son writes as properly as possible. She knows many people in her company who won't get promoted because they can't craft written communication well, and most of them are young. It's sad, really.

everyone else in the US gave a specific city, I guess I should too. I'm from Yorktown, VA, the Ironic little town because some 50+% of Americans have NO clue where Yorktown is or why it is significant :(
@butter, those of us born in VA, know the significance and location of Yorktown, Jamestown, and Colonial Williamsburg, at least. I was born in Norfolk and spent a lot of summers in Virginia Beach where my Grandparent's lived. Spent many a summer day up in Busch Garden until I got older and more interested in early american history, then I started visiting Colonial Williamsburg *a lot*.

haha I agree YCHTT- but most others don't know it and it makes me sad(partially because of my love for History). Don't know the last time you were in the area, but Busch has got a few new rides, and got rid of Big Bad Wolf(I'm sure you remember that one) Since then it just hasn't been the same for me.

ok if you live in America and don't know the signicance of Yorktown, either you failed history or your history teacher failed you
butterhead (1272 D)

I agree. but it's a sad truth. I have met many of people from other states who have NO CLUE what Yorktown's significance is... and I just look at them and shake my head...
SacredDigits (978 D)

Yorktown? I believe it. It seems like we all have a little radius around our hometown that we're best at the history of, partly because most states require state history in school (that is, New York history in New York). It's saddest to me when people don't even know dick about their hometown, like I met someone in Buffalo who wondered why a particular street was called Canal Street. "Probably because of the Erie Canal." "The what?" "The Erie Canal." "What's that?"

Facepalm.

ooohhh that's a fail. now I have only been to NY one time, and that was to NYC, so I probably wouldn't have known that had you asked me... but if you are from that area and you don't know it -_-

From Kenya, live in London, try to make people feel better.

Reasonable speller, frustrated by "your/you're" confusion/idiocy. Have any of you who are interested in the importance of grammar heard of a book called 'Eats, Shoots and Leaves'? Goes right to the heart of the grammar debate. The title is an example where misused grammar can change a definition absolutely. The definition in this case is the panda, which eats shoots and leaves, but rarely eats, shoots and leaves.
I don't know if I ever montioned me... Just in Case

The Erie Canal is pretty significant in US history in general, but particularly in the northern and western part of New York State. It opened up the Great Lakes to better transportation options and made New York City an even more key port.

Yorktown is where we beat the Brits out of our land 'MERICA! (Also, I am not the most patriotic of the Americans by far, I may actually be a little more towards European styles of living).

Possible Summer League
Looking for 1 game to play this summer. I was thinking 4 or 5 day phases. No complaining on not readying orders. As I know I will be very busy myself. Figured if I found enough interest in playing we could pick a variant based on how many are interested. Reply if your interested in playing. Maybe a larger bet to make it worth the wait. However, not looking to put all my eggs in one basket (honor of Easter today). Let me know if your interested and you feel on the entry fee.

People not playing last turn
I have noticed in a lot of games when a player has no SC's left but still has units they are still give a build phase and will usually let it run the full time. Is there any way to change the programming so that if a player has 0 SC's then their units are automatically destroyed at the build phase?
