Question: if you mute someone, do they know they have been muted?
A second question is can you ever play with them again?

Game is Stuck Due to a player who left
We paused the game, and this player has abdicated for no apparent reason. It appears he has left for good. We need to find a way to unpause the game and/or get a replacement. The game is gameID=6973

My apologies
I am truly sorry for abandoning my game last year. Without getting into detail I lost some extremely close to me and I did not handle it well. I look forward to playing with those of you who are still here and with new victims as well.

Fast Paces WW4 map.
I was wondering if I created a WW4 map in the near future that had phases of about 12 to 16 hours would enough people be interested. If I get enough people to agree on it I could even make it less than 12 hour phases. Would anyone be interested?

New variant on a variant
1v1 games are all very well (just been thrashed - and quite enjoyed it), but it seems crazy that someone from France can just walk into Germany on their way to Austria.

Bug in settings?
For a few days now, it's not been possible to change my quote in the 'settings' tab. It seems like it started when the new 'give-away' feature was implemented. Possibly related?

You learn something new every day. I knew Burnside became Senator from Rhode Island, but not until today did I know that he was immediately succeeded by Nelson Aldrich.

and then of course we come to Tippecanoe County known for Purdue University and the Battle of Tippecanoe (yeah more William Henry Harrison!) by the way I recommend anyone who gets the chance should go visit Grouseland if ever in the region

but anywho I could go on for awhile on the military history of Indiana, my personal favorite being the tale of the 38th Infantry Division, the Avengers of Bataan in the Second World War, granted the division also included Kentucky and West Virginia troops at that time

Hey, my mom went to Purdue ... I am there once a year basically plus I wave to it another time every year going to Chicago ... and my daughter here in CBus once played Wm Henry as a famous "Ohioan"!!

your mom went to Purdue? that's awesome, that's actually where I'm going to be going in the fall

@KA - I did 130 mph on the autobahn when I was in Germany during Oktoberfest. Does that give me bonus points?

@gopher and all - forgot to mention profession. I consult to governments on how they can better meet their strategic needs online (usually covering improving customer experience, reducing costs etc.) In my spare time I make variants for here ;-)

Not Teutonic militarists?
nope. far too conservative.
@Shep - before you get to Purdue, you might want to learn that "going to be going" is both redundant and repetitve and redundant. :-)

It's just:
That's where I am going in the fall.
How about hitting 167 mph across the Butler Regional Highway at 1AM in my 93 Corvette? Or averaging over 125 MPH all the way across PA on the PA Turnpike in a 95 LeBaron GTC with the top down? I had that one floored at 134 (wouldn't go any faster) the whole time just slowing down at the tunnels and stopping for gas, restroom breaks, and some McDonalds at one point.
Rancher (1109 D)

@ YCHT well no one ever said I was English major :p actually what you just said reminds me a lot of my English teacher, tell me do you have the tendency to run around in your birthday suit and sing to people on their birthday?
Shep315 (1435 D)

*an English major (I tend to type too fast)
@Rancher - Yepper's. My perent's lived (and the hous eI grew up in) in Bethany on Cinci-Dayton road, so I used to run from Bypass-4 to their place across BRH when we lived in Fairfield the first time. My Corvette, after I chipped and ported it, would do 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and topped out over 180 MPH. I only ever did that fast on a track though.

@Shep - You may not be an English major but your profs will grade you on grammar as much as on content and you *will* have to study English in some form at Purdue. And I am not an english major either. I'm a software developer. So just be prepared to get mediocre grades or improve your grammar skills in the next 6 months.

The biggest mistake I see people make on the internet, grammatically, is "of" instead of "have." I didn't parse for an example, so I made up this sentence, but it's really an epidemic.

I would of gone to Purdue.

No.

It's I would HAVE gone to Purdue. Technically, you're making a contraction and it's would've, but that's considered an improper contraction by most anyway. EVERYONE seems to make this mistake.

its the internet, where people don't really give two pieces of crap about what they type or how they type it...

Which is why your generation cannot communicate in the written form. Not an insult, just a painful fact. The failure started with my generation and instant messaging in the late 90s as we graduated high school, but the problem has grown far worse in the subsequent decade. I read emails from family members your age and they can neither spell nor craft proper sentences.

@Sacred, it's because the individuals in question don't actually know what they are saying. Spoken quickly, "I would've gone..." sound exactly like "I would of gone..." Simply peruse the comments section of a site like Yahoo or CNN and you'll find lots of examples. And lots of really ignorant comments. Fun times.
I love reading newspaper article comments and trying to decipher some of the spellings contained therein. Yeesh!

I like to read the comments on newspaper articles and try to figure out how people got such stupid opinions lol
but then I just get mad because they don't understand the very thing they are talking about

Possible Summer League
Looking for 1 game to play this summer. I was thinking 4 or 5 day phases. No complaining on not readying orders. As I know I will be very busy myself. Figured if I found enough interest in playing we could pick a variant based on how many are interested. Reply if your interested in playing. Maybe a larger bet to make it worth the wait. However, not looking to put all my eggs in one basket (honor of Easter today). Let me know if your interested and you feel on the entry fee.

People not playing last turn
I have noticed in a lot of games when a player has no SC's left but still has units they are still give a build phase and will usually let it run the full time. Is there any way to change the programming so that if a player has 0 SC's then their units are automatically destroyed at the build phase?
