Gameplay suggestion for consideration
Do you think it would be feasible / realistic / playable to have the ability to "stack" multiple units in the same territory? It would definitely deal with the issue of draw-lines, I'd wager...

Who is in charge here?
Hey,
Can the Powers That Be please update the rules section to the proper email address to send problems. The webDip Mods have been receiving a number of emails about vDip and not only can't we help them, but we don't know where to send them to.
Thanks

Drawing
Am I right in saying if a decision is made to draw a game all the points are equally distributed amongst the players irrespective of how many SCs each player might have?

I've noticed in some of the games I've had that when some countries aren't doing very well in games they start to miss turns and ask for draws. Is there a way of drawing games where points are distributed according to how many SCs each country holds at the point of the draw?

Napoleonic variant?
I've been reading a bit lately about Napoleonic Europe and the following split of Europe in the Congress of Vienna. And it got me thinking - are there any Napoleonic variants out there? I can see them listed in the Variant Bank, but haven't found any maps. Anyone seen anything like this?

Starting Friday I am going to be away for 11 days so I was wondering if someone could sit for me in my games.

FoW Orders
Why the orders archive can't be seen in FoW?
Sometimes there is an arrow so misleading you may think the support was given in the wrong direccion, or things like that. Some arrows are not conclusive, but still you can see them, so you should be able to know exactly what move they were, shouldn't you?

You might want to take a look at the game every once in a while and see if anyone's gone abandoned and join as a fill-in player if/when possible. Otherwise, keep an eye out for future games in the Game of Games series in 2012.

Southerners call "The Civil War" "The War between the States" but prefer "The War of Yankee Aggression". Israelis prefer to call "The West Bank" "Judea and Samaria". Does that help?
Actually, I call the American Civil War the American Civil War.

And this isn't one side of a war naming a war differently or one of multiple contested owners calling a piece of land a different name. This is the sole, legitimate, sovereign ruling body of a state telling the world its name.
Gobbledydook (1083 D)

According to the United Nations,
The official name for Ukraine is Ukraine.

And US Census forms say African American while the NAACP says colored. And UNCF says Negro.

I would say that what people call themselves is of the least evidential merit of all. I doubt that you tell people that your car was made in Nippon. The exists a subset of Mexicans who insist on calling themselves American. When the French speak of Americans, I'm fairly certain they do not mean Mexicans. I'll be damned if I'm going to call Madras Chennai just because a bunch of Hindustani Fascists tell me to. I just remember a friend in high school who refused to admit that he was Indian because he preferred Hindustani.

And yes, I realize that your car was actually made in Tennessee.

there exists, not the exists
Well, of course. Japan is the English exonym for Nippon. Hence, speaking English, I would say Japan, not Nippon.

But that doesn't apply here, because the English exonym for Ukrayina is Ukraine. Not "The Ukraine." In fact, Ukrainian itself doesn't even have articles, so it is impossible for Ukraine's actual name to be "The Ukraine." The people that live there couldn't even call it "The Ukraine" in their own language.

And again, there is a huge difference between non-sovereign nationalist reactionaries demanding that their people be called "Americans" or "Hindustanis" and both the sovereign state itself and the United Nations saying that the state is to be called "Ukraine."

I place no value in whatever the UN has to say and typically ignore that giant waste of resources. Regardless, it doesn't matter what the UN calls a state; the only relevant point is the state's self-declaration, which is properly translated Ukraine.

While I am on the soapbox, let me also say I reserve the right to use my translation of your country's name. Yes, I am talking to you, "Côte d'Ivoire." I don't care that you declare your actual name is French. I don't speak French, so your name is Ivory Coast. I don't hear you going around saying "Les United States." Besides, nobody can find you on the map anyway.

Gobbledydook (1083 D)

Actually it's Les Etats-Unis, but point taken.

Ukraine is Ukraine and is Ukraine only, not "The" Ukraine.
Gobbledydook (1083 D)

I am however surprised at how the matter of the name of Ukraine can give rise to such a lengthy argument, much of it unrelated to the point of what the country commonly known as Ukraine should be called.
LoveDove (1368 D)

"Actually it's Les Etats-Unis, but point taken."

Your response actually demonstrates you didn't understand my point, so it can't be "taken." The point is they do not say "Les United States," which would be my equivalent of saying "Côte d'Ivoire" for them. So "Les Etats-Unis" has nothing to so with it! I am starting to think you might be from the Ivory Coast. Or the UN...
@Gobble: Because nomenclature arguments are SO DAMN FUN. #classificationwhore

yes Im surprised at this debate as well, what really needs to be discussed is the question, "Why is Gdansk so far east on this Map?" i mean even the dot is in the wrong spot
I posit that Siberia being due north of the Caspian is a far more egregious err

I think the most heinous oversight is the lack of an option for French units to surrender when any enemy unit enters an adjacent space. Or perhaps not the option, but requirement. Zing! I must have been drinking my Haterade today...

I usually give the designers the benefit of the doubt, "for gameplay/balancing pruposes" but, yeah, HK is way off, Modern diplimacy should be updated to include Algeria as a Power, I believe that would be a good add-on.

@Pres. Eden----The BJP have been the governing party in India off and on for a good portion of the last 20 years. That is why India tested a nuclear weapon a few years back causing Pakistan to test a nuclear weapon and quite possibly leading to the coup that overthrew Sharif. Neither the government of East Germany nor the UN ever recognized a state called East Germany. And yes I was actually aware, since a dinner party 27 months ago, that Ukrainian has no articles. I don't understand why you care so much about how I refer to countries. I don't care that people say "The Philippines are...." instead of the "The Philippines is...." Or worse yet, "The Green Bay Packers are the best team in football."

@LoveDove----In the interest of accuracy, I choose to refer to Cote d'Ivoire as the Chocolate Coast. :P
