Cold War Tournament
I am looking to start a rated Cold War tournament consisting of group and knockout stages. Groups of 4 will face each other twice, once as each country. The top two (or three, pending interest) from each group will move on to the knockout stage, with each matchup lasting two games. Users will play as each country once. If tied 1-1, an additional two games are played until a winner is determined.

Map Markings
I apologize if this is a repeat question or if it's found somewhere obvious, but I'm brand new to vDiplomacy and I can't seem to find what the difference is between the two types of what I believe are SC markings on the Bye Bye Federalism map.

Can someone help me?

Advertise your NON-live games here!
In an effort to compromise the pro-ads versus anti-ads for games: Post here for your non-live games to cut down on the number of ads but still advertise games. Post game link, WTA or PPSC, and the bet. Note: this doesn't count for special rules games.

March Madness discussion
Let's have a discussion/argument about this year's tournament.
My final four is Villanova, Kansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee. The Elite Eight losers are Texas Tech, Duke, Gonzaga, and Virginia.

Some controversial aspects of my bracket are:
—Tennessee to the Final Four
—Missouri over Xavier
—Houston over Michigan
—Arkansas over Purdue
—Wait for it. . .
—Charleston over Auburn.

Somehow 16 seeded UMBC beat 1 seeded Virginia. What a history maker.

It's everything I could have ever dreamed of!
I'm a Syracuse fan, so hello. This is a bad year for brackets. I did have Kentucky going to the Elite 8, though,

I think the biggest part of the madness is how the athletes are not being paid, don't you think?

I mean sure, they get the education for free, which in the US is already a fortune at some schools, but I'm not really convinced that they can learn a lot when they have to train basketball all the time.
Well, many mid-major athletes have to pay their own way, which is unfair in comparison to highly recruited athletes. However, the flip side is, look at any other profession. Usually the better workers get paid more. This is also true in the NBA, and to a lesser extent, college basketball.
*Tim Hardaway Jr.'s contract disagrees.

Option to play a variant with fewer than the max number of players?
Hello all,

I and two of my friends love playing 3 player diplo games together. Having gone through the different 3 player maps, I'm wondering if there is a way to play on some of the larger variants, but with just 3 people? For instance, I'd love it if we could play a 3 player game on Fall of the American Empire IV.

WWII Tournament
I would like to start a tournament. I've seen the Known World and 1v1 tournaments, and those are great fun. So why not apply it to World War II? I'm still working out the details, but I'll post some details.

Is there a variant that you really want to play, but isn't available here yet?

I have done work on half a dozen variants and I would like to pick something else. What's your favorite?

Policy For Site Unavailability/Glitch
What do you mods think about having some kind of policy posted to address when the site goes down or is not functional in the future? You have chosen to cancel the 1st game of Divided States over this, but the last time I was involved in a game that had this happen, the last phase was replayed. So currently, the response isn't consistent.

Soon on vDiplomacy: Canton Diplomacy
After trying three excruciatingly long games of Colonial Diplomacy and seeing its annoying lack of balance by myself, I decided to revive Paul Webb's 'Canton Diplomacy' from the depths of the internet. With Oli's help and blessing we'll be playing it quite soon!

Known World Tournament
Awhile back, kaner proposed a Known World gunboat tournament in which 15 participants would play 15 games, one with each nation. I searched back for the thread, then just decided to start a new one. I want to see if there would be sufficient interest in this to try to get it off the ground.

In order to keep myself accountable in some fashion to actually complete this task, and not just talk about it, I've created a small project plan where I can mark my progress.
