Testers Needed for New 4 Player Variant
Hi Everyone! I'm looking for players to test my variant Atlantic Colonies on the vdiplomacy lab. Ideally I'd like to have more than one game going so that glitches and balance issues can be rooted out as quickly as possible and it can go live!

Hello all! As part of my summer series of trying to play all variants, I want to play Chaoctopi. Considering that is a large undertaking, I figured I would make a signup thread. Post here if you are interested!

Just checking: drawing and left players
Hi all. In a game where 2 players have left and the remaining 3 players want to draw. Just checking that the left players (still on the board) don't get a share of the pot if the 3 of us draw. Or do we have to wait until we've taken all their SCs?

New rough map- "Fall of the Carthaginian Empire"
I've made a rough alternate history map, and I want some critiques.

Notes:
Stars represent armies, bolts represent navies
Bright green is a center with a standing army
Specific questions:
1: Should I give all 3-center powers a fourth center?
2: any name ideas for unnamed territories?

What's the history of that world?

Hannibal captured Archimedes. Rome fell quickly. Carthage expanded in a similar manner to Rome, though not quite as far north. However, living under Carthaginian rule was not quite as appealing as Roman, and a series of terrible sophets (the carthaginian equivalent of Consuls), along with a plague, led to a great famine. With most armed forces fighting Persia in the east (and winning, which is why Persia is so weak here), multiple provinces revolted and formed their own states. Another deviance is that here, Nubian rule in Egypt was significantly longer, and southern Egypt became of greater importance, leading to a more "Nubian" Egypt.

I would argue all states to have one army and one navy to begin with.
And I dont like bolts.
caliburdeath (1013 D)
06 Aug 13 UTC
What purpose would the one-army-one-fleet thing serve? Do you mean outside of their SC-based units?
The bolts and stars are just markers. I will clean up the map a lot, and of course program it in, but I want to finalize the map first.
Should I add the Azores? The Carthaginians had settlements there.

Nice map, caliburdeath, congrats!

Some suggestions for territories' names in/around Italy:
- Gaul (Gallia). Good, but you may want to give it a wider coast, taking it from Mar, and then call it Liguria, that looks more accurate.
- MI. I guess it's for Milan (Mediolanum)? If it's so, Milan is in the Alps according to your map, so perhaps Apuania would be better or, if it has to be a town because of the SC, then Luna.
- Aquileia: perfect.
- unnamed territory in Tuscany: Tuscia or Etruria.
- Ravenna: perfect.
- Roma: perfect.
- Capua: perfect.
- unnamed territory on Adriatic: Samnium.
- Tarentum: perfect.
- Nap. I guess it's for Naples (Neapolis) that's much more North, near Capua. Bruttium would be better.
- Syracusae (yes, ending in "ae"): perfect.
- Lib. I guess it's for Lilybaeum, good. Also Panormus would work.
- Carales: perfect.
- unnamed Corsica: Cyrnus or Corsica.

Seas in a clockwise order:
Mare Adriaticum or Mare Superum
Mare Ionium
Mare Siculum or Mare Lybicum or Fretum Messanicum (Strait of Messina)
Mare Tyrrhenum
Ligusticus Sinus (Gulf of Liguria)
Lastly, the sea between Sicilia and Tunisia, now called "Sicili". It was called Fretum Siculum (Strait of Sicily).

Here's a couple of maps where you can look for alternatives:

http://www.heritage-history.com/maps/shepherd/shep030-031.jpg
Other interesting maps on that site, too.

Hope this was helping and thanks for your work! :)

Im arguing that the states need to be balanced. I dot like maps where one country has 6 armies and another two i,e ww2, pirates
crixno (1248 D)
06 Aug 13 UTC
Absolutely a great map although I think it is slightly unbalanced that Persia has only two SC's at the beginning.
caliburdeath (1013 D)
06 Aug 13 UTC
Thanks for the compliments! All states, except for Carthage, are going to be roughly equally balanced. While Persia and Illyria start with only two centers, and Hunni one, they start with four units to everyone else's three. I'm thinking of having Carthage start with only one unit in its heartland. But, some specific suggestions to make it more balanced would be appreciated.
Guaroz: Thanks! I will take most of this into consideration. A few things:
Mediolanum/Milan is usually this far up or higher. Do you mean it's too far west?
Except for the territories belonging to rome, I am going to attempt to de-latinize the names a bit. This probably won't be punic-izing so much as effing them up, but that's why I have the sea names as I do, and why carthage is Qrt(Qart-hadsht)
caliburdeath (1013 D)
06 Aug 13 UTC
Oh, I should also note that this will be build anywhere.
Guaroz (2030 D (B))

@calib, Re: Mediolanum. Too north and west. On your map it would be On the western side of Alpes, near the Gaul's border. Look at the first map I suggested: Mediolanum is in the Eastern side of Transpadane Gaul far above Genoa! And there are Appenine Mountains between it and Gulf of Genoa! Really, best choice in that area looks Luna. It was even bigger than Milan, at that age.
caliburdeath (1013 D)
07 Aug 13 UTC
Luna was established after the second punic war. I'll just extend the territory & move the city northwest.
The only remaining territories that I need names for are lower persia, the three gallic territories, and the one with Cirta as the only bordering SC
I would appreciate balance suggestions, just keep in mind that I am going to have carthage start with a lot of centers, and I am going to have persia, illyria, and the huns start with fewer SC's but more units

Uh, ok. I must have missed the year the map is supposed to be in, sorry.
caliburdeath (1013 D)

It's not that, it's supposed to be long after the punic wars (~170 AD), it's just that.... I really want it to be mediolanum.

Anon WWIV game
I have been trying awfully hard to get a anon WWIV game started. For my third try, I shall start a forum to get at least 25-30 people committed. Post here with your commitment, the game will be anonymous random country assignment, so it shouldnt matter if anyone sees your name, but if you want to remain a little more anon, just PM me

Hi, sorry if this is a dumb question, but at my Home screen, it shows under My Games games that I have been defeated in. How do I remove these? Or officially leave a game if I am close to dying?

Modern Diplomacy advise needed
I'm playing as Russia and was just betrayed by Ukraine. My forces are split between Scandinavia and Asia Minor/Middle East. Is my best move to move my forces in the Middle East back up to try to defend my center (which has one tank) or keep moving south into the Middle East against a weakened Turkey? I have 6 units in the area vs. 9 Ukraine, 5 Turkey and 4-5 potentially hostile Italian units.
