Testers Needed for New 4 Player Variant

Just checking: drawing and left players

Hi all. In a game where 2 players have left and the remaining 3 players want to draw. Just checking that the left players (still on the board) don't get a share of the pot if the 3 of us draw. Or do we have to wait until we've taken all their SCs?

Anon WWIV game

What are the parameters? I'm in if the phase length is 1-2 days. 20+ points would be nice too. The more the merrier. WTA? Victory condition increased a bit?

I will play. And I applaud your efforts to get this going. Rather than lower the find standard you set up, let's consider marketing this as a game of high quality play amongst high quality players. If it takes a while to get the roster filled out, that's time well spent, if we can avoid NMRs, CDs, multiplayer trolls, and point chasing/solo throwing geeks.

For what it's worth I like the sound of:

20+ points buy-in
1-2 day phase lengths
WTA
100 SC victory platform
80%+ RR
No opinion on minimum number phases

To those who think that the 100 SC victory level is too high, it's not going to add any more than an extra week or two to the game. The reality is that the level of player being recruited here is not going to see anyone get 100 SCs, but it leaves the game open for a very wide range of alliance possibilities. The higher pots size also offers incentive to varying degree of draw scenarios, but does not mandate a 12+ player draw to avoid dumping a solo. While 80 centers is much better than 50, setting the limit at 100 allows for the game to be played on a truly global scale without the fear of a risking a solo in the mid-game.

It is not impossible. Stop spreading that tired and inaccurate narrative about the lower SC count. It's not only inaccurate, but you don't have the experience to back it up. Unfortunately you spit it out there enough times and people believe it.

Yes, solo's should be possible. Solos should also be rare, on any map. On a global a solo should be should be a monumental achievement and a monumental failure. Getting to 50 centers on this map is nothing. 80 is playable, 100 would be better. 100 centers is 41% of the total. If you're going to claim a solo, you should at least collect that much.

I think that 50 is ok if it is WTA. If it is WTA and someone is getting close, it can make for some interesting changes mid game. Especially in a game with high level players.

The big map leads to alliances shifting multiple times as the game moves along, and I often find with a 50 center VC that the game is cut off just when it really starts to get interesting. That's why I favor a higher number.

Modern Diplomacy advise needed

I'm playing as Russia and was just betrayed by Ukraine. My forces are split between Scandinavia and Asia Minor/Middle East. Is my best move to move my forces in the Middle East back up to try to defend my center (which has one tank) or keep moving south into the Middle East against a weakened Turkey? I have 6 units in the area vs. 9 Ukraine, 5 Turkey and 4-5 potentially hostile Italian units.

Game needs to be canceled.

Sorry, I was teaching at this summer program and I got all my kids to sign up and start a game of diplomacy, but now it's over they've all basically dropped it, so we need to cancel the game if that's possible. I don't want to get a win on record by everyone CDing
