Hell, if we're going to come up with a "French Lepanto," why not:

S01: Bre -> MAO, Par -> Gas, Mar -> Bur/Pie (arr. bounce)
A01: Bre C Gas -> Por, Mar -> Spa
W01: F Bre, A Par
S02: Bre -> MAO, MAO -> NAO, Par -> Bur, Spa -> Mar

Of course the moves besides the convoying army and fleets aren't mandatory, but they seem a sensible set of orders.

You've got all the elements of a "Lepanto" opening - convoying to a neutral SC in a manner which keeps your fleet one turn away from a pivotal SC space, then setting up a convoy line and convoying to an obscure location in the target's homeland. Sure, it's still silly to call it a "Lepanto" as the name refers specifically to a (vaguely) Austrian-Italian alliance against the Ottomans, but at least we're keeping the spirit alive.

I do a similar move to that "French Lepanto", PE. I think it's officially called the Lisbon Leap.

S01: Bre to MAO, Par to Gas, Mar to Bur (bounce)
A01: Bre C Gas to Por, Mar to Spain
F Brest, second build conditional.
S02: Bre to MAO, MAO to IRI.

And then you go straight for the convoy to Liverpool, or go with Wales if that's easier. I prefer IRI to NAO, but it depends on the board, really.
