fighting
First off I do not want to offend anyone, please don't take this the wrong way. Why the fighting and name calling? Not everyone has the same style of play...that does not make them bad people. This site is supposed to be fun. Oli and others work hard to create variants and keep this site going, so for his sake, lets heed the last words that show up whenever he posts a new variant...HAVE FUN!

Game mechanics question
Can a fleet move from Portugal to Spain (sc), while at the same time another fleet moves from Spain (sc) to Portugal?
And, more important as there is an ongoing game, how does it work on this site?

Race for the Tape
In contrast to Austria and Italy, Russia and Turkey often make a strong alliance against the rest of the board, called a Juggernaut. But what happens when there's no one else to ally against?

Antagonism: Classic VS!
Italy and Austria often go to war in the Classic map, and get pounced on by happy neighbours.
So what if we removed the pesky neighbours?

There is a really nasty bug in the ClassicVS variant
You might not be able to view your home-screen if you play 2 or more ClassicVS games. I'll try to fix this, but it can take some time.
You shouldn't joint too much games, and I might have to draw ClassicVS games as they make problems without announcing (did so on 2 games already)

Ankara Crescent
Since spam and creative forum posts are so popular on this site, I think that we should play Ankara Crescent. You cannot post twice in a row. I will start by moving from Berlin to Vienna by helicopter.

/s USS Enterprise send out F 35 jets to soot down kaner's hot air balloon. Sorry man you have a retreat to make.
Enclave army Raven's Rock moves to Ankara via Vertibird.

Hmmm. Y'all are much better at this than me. I'ma just be sitting here in this lawn chair with one of those foldy reflective boards to sun my face. Have fun storming the castle!

Our Orkish Army will take the Foldy Reflective Boards and aim them at the castle, slowly melting it.

My jedi knights use the force to make all units, existent and potential, support them into Ankara crescent. Ha.
guak (1262 D X)
13 Jun 11 UTC
Under the Rules Convention of 1989 in Bern, the use of Jedi Knights has been banned, thus your move into Ankara Crescent is illegal.
Gobbledydook (1083 D)
13 Jun 11 UTC
Seeing that kaner has not made a retreat, his hot-air-balloon is disbanded.
USS Enterprise support hold whiskyandfeet's castle.

Man, I wish the real Fog of War game I was in had a tenth this much spirit. Total dud.
Why is this still ongoing? I already won.
Gobbledydook (1083 D)
14 Jun 11 UTC
Sorry, but according to the 2007 Paris Rule Conference, players who unilaterally declare victory automatically lose.
You missed the part where I actually met the victory conditions. The 2007 Paris Rule Conference states that players who unilaterally declare victory IN THE ABSENCE OF FULFILLING THE VICTORY CONDITIONS automatically lose.

But I already landed my forces in Ankara, therefore I win.
Gobbledydook (1083 D)
14 Jun 11 UTC
Sorry to say that, but according to the 2007 Paris Rule Conference, the only Victory Condition is all players unanimously assenting to the win. Otherwise it is an offense that causes automatic loss.
Indeed. However, I believe you missed the ruling from the International Court of Badass Motherfuckers (ICBM) in 2009 which stated that if a player lands an army in Ankara, all players are required to assent to the win.
Gobbledydook (1083 D)
14 Jun 11 UTC
I must however point to the International Court of Appeal of Badass Motherfuckers (ICABM) ruling in 2011 that overruled the previous 2009 ruling you cited.
However, the Supreme Court of Righteous Orthodoxy and Titular Unitary Motions [figure it out] overturned this appeal in 2277.

"But that didn't even happen yet!"

I hate to do this, but in concordance with the 2010 Ankara Crescent Convention, all rules agreed to on other events were deemed to be void and the alteration of the set of rules from said convention to be unmodifiable. And said rules stated that victory could not be declared by the player who lands in Ankara, but rather that the landing had to first be recognized by all players.

USS Enterprise send paratroopers to attack President Eden's forces that are trying to claim Ankara.
mesocell (980 D)
14 Jun 11 UTC
My fleet in Livonia switches it's support hold of Constantinople and instead Supports President Eden's army in Ankara. Furthermore, we have secured the right forearm of a number of the Ankara Crescent Convention members behind their backs. By applying gentle pressure to said arms, and making an offer they couldn't refuse, they agree with us in supporting President Eden's claim to the game winning move. We tip our hats and tommy guns in salute and state "well played".
Graeme01 (1224 D)
14 Jun 11 UTC
Since my jedi knights have been banned, I use my fabulous riches to buy off everyone else's units, such that they all support my move from the land of Awesomeness to Ankara Crescent. Shouts of acclamation (for a small fee per citizen) greeted my arrival into the region.

But where's the ka-boom? There's supposed to be an Earth shattering ka-boom?
mesocell (980 D)
14 Jun 11 UTC
The ka-boom happens October 21st. It was delayed from May 21st due to a miscalculation.
Graeme01 (1224 D)
14 Jun 11 UTC
Hey, maybe the ka-boom already happened, we just didn't notice it. It just wasn't a very big ka-boom.
Fauxlosophe (1191 D)
14 Jun 11 UTC
It was a rather small shatter as well. Just south of Timbuktoo.
Graeme01 (1224 D)
14 Jun 11 UTC
In fact only one person noticed it. A pebble jumped as he was walking by.
The kaboom was just a sonic boom caused by my Vertibird fleet moving to reinforce the Enclave heavy infantry division besieging Ankara.

I'll note that guak's citation verifies that I indeed do not lose with my declaration... now then.

1. The Vertibird in Syria supports the move to Smyrna (where the USS Enterprise is currently dropping off paratroopers) from Eastern Mediterranean; the Vertibird in EMS moves to Smyrna. The USS Enterprise is dislodged and the paratrooper dropoff is interrupted.
2. The Enclave cannot be bought with fiat currency.
Shep315 (1435 D)

egad, the enclave is attacking Ankara! I guess I must relieve the city with the Red Faction
Gobbledydook (1083 D)
16 Jun 11 UTC
Damn! You idiot Eden...
USS Enterprise retreat to Cyprus, launch anti-air missiles at Vertibird.
Shep315 (1435 D)
16 Jun 11 UTC
did I mention that the Red Faction soldiers are equipped with Mr. Toots
Gobbledydook (1083 D)
17 Jun 11 UTC
Seeing as the Vertibird has not returned a signal, it is clear that the Vertibird has been dislodged and has retreated back to Vertiland.
Now with that pesky bird fleet gone, I will send paratroopers again to support move Red Faction Soldiers move to Ankara, seeing that we need a coalition to defeat Eden's superior forces.

Stalemate lines in Modern Dip
When they say (ie. Diplomacy strategy articles, etc) there is a Rostov-Caucasus-Iran stalemate line, they must also assume you also have control of the (Eastern) Black Sea? Would a Georgia-Azerbaijan-Iran line not be the same then? What would you need to control on the west side to make sure this line is effective? Also what is the Alexandria/Eastern Sahara/Ionian/Adriatic (articles only use 2 names but they're not consistent) line I keep reading about? Can someone actually describe this line?
