Winning (spiteful version)
This is the mean and nasty version of Third to Last Person to post Wins. Instead of winning, the third to last person to post loses! Be mean and vindictive to others! (In a fun, friendly way.)

My first 1v1 and my first 1v1 win.
Thanks, fuzzy, for the game. Of course, i might not have gotten it had fuzzy not missed Spring 01, but he still got 2 builds that turn and it was a successful dislodgment that got a fleet behind his line that did it for me.

Suddenly, all of my games are featured games with some of the highest stakes on the server. This is surprising to me, since they all range in value from 60-150 D.

Variant Idea?
I was playing a gunboat (not on here) the other day, and I've realised that, although it takes away a lot of the Diplomacy aspects of the game, there is still a lot present in the Support-Holds and Support-Moves of other nations.
Would it be possible to make a classic variant where you could not support move or support hold any unit but your own?

What can i say, i am a lucky man. It cost a fair bit but i think it was worth every penny. I have read it cover to cover 5 times now. If you want, maybe someday you can buy it off me

nah it's all good, I found an ancient manuscript depicting the 15th century rules on an archaeological expedition, so it all worked out
fasces349 (1007 D)
08 Apr 12 UTC
Wow, so was it depicting the European or Arabic rules?

Either way its such a nice opportunity
No, no you fools. This is the Ancient Egyptian variant. My Ra Sun Boat parks in Bohemia and dares anyone to mock it!
Shep315 (1435 D)
08 Apr 12 UTC
@Fasces- it's pretty nice it was written by the emissary of the King of France to the Ottoman Empire so it contains the European, Turkish, and Arabic rules
sadly I have been unable to find the chinese rules
fasces349 (1007 D)
08 Apr 12 UTC
Chinese rules? I didn't even know there were rules written for the far east, but then again Marco Polo might have presented the game to the Yuan dynasty in his travels to the far east, its tough to say.

Maybe AncientMemories could enlighten us.

Well, before I started to play I checked a certain John Smiths' book, who seems to be the expert of the game, and it is written on the pages 202-254, that my moves are strictly following the rules, just read it carefully.
adalephat (733 D)

I was talking about the internationally accepted Combined Rules of course, not about the useless old ones.

Diplolmat -

Everyone knows the "Ancient Egyptian" variant was only written in 1992 in an attempt to rebuild the popularity of the game. Sadly, it was such a flop that virtually no one even considers it a true variant anymore and it is universally shunned by the Ankara Crescent community. The fact that you wish to play it (and apparently have played it before!) says much about your skill and knowledge of Ankara Crescent. I recommend you call AncientMemories and get a real copy of the rules to learn the real game.

Adalephat - Yet more proof that you've never played before. John Smith? The expert? That'd be like calling me the "expert" of Diplomacy. While I"m sure a John Smith played Ankara Crescent at one point, there is no evidence he was an expert nor have I ever seen a book written by him espousing these "Combined Rules" you speak of. Are you sure you're playing the same game?
Indeed.
But I started this thread, so we play MY variant.
fasces349 (1007 D)
08 Apr 12 UTC
You never stated this was playing with some off version of the rules, but simply ankara crescent.

If you wanted to play with your own rules, you should have called it 33 crescent.
Fine, we will play the bloody '84 edition. The one with the wormhole from Iceland to Syria remember. But since Eastern Med got nuked its useless now!
fasces349 (1007 D)
08 Apr 12 UTC
When was the East Med nukes?

All I remember was Constantinople being nuked, and then Adelphate cheating which sparked this whole debate about rules.

And wormholes never officially made it into the rules, but was proposed in 1957, and was further discussed in the Moscow convention of 84.
'84. I said so. The Iceland one made it in remember. There was the whole debate in '87 in switzerland about it too. Remember the Arab league via Syria protested immensely but it passed
adalephat (733 D)
09 Apr 12 UTC
All right, I admit I've never played Anakar Crescent, and this book of John Smiths was in fact written by a Rumanian iron-miner.
