Can you make it 1 day 1 hour? The 1 hour doesn't make much difference to overall speed but it can help if you only come on at one time of day and you're delayed.
butterhead (1272 D)

is 1 day 1 hour good with everyone?
and Shep, I'm sure we can make sure you get wiped out nice and quickly... lol... no, we will just play as far as we can and then pause... as a matter of fact, thinking about it, I hope my hotel has free internet, since I will be gone for a few days next week...
Hellenic Riot (1267 D)

And yeah, I remembered the problem with MD2 is that it has no Austria anyway, so it'd make it too hard for axis unless you put Ukraine on their side.

Might I advise that you guys use the Modern Diplomacy map instead? Ironically it fits WWII better.
Your teams would be:

Allies: Britain, France, Poland, Egypt
Axis: Germany, Spain, Italy
Neutral: Russia, Ukraine, Turkey

Did you not read? NO Modern DIplomacy map...
Shep315 (1435 D)

that could be complicated too, I mean historically Ukraine would have to go on whatever side Russia did, which raises a point I talked about on another thread, we need a WW 2 variant

so that's 8:30 am Monday for those of us on the Australian East Coast.
"that could be complicated too, I mean historically Ukraine would have to go on whatever side Russia did, which raises a point I talked about on another thread, we need a WW 2 variant"

No, it wouldn't. Ukraine itself was heavily torn between anti-USSR and anti-NSDAP factions during WWII. Frankly, Ukraine hated both, and for good reason, because both treated Ukraine like total shit. You had a sizable resistance movement in Ukraine that fought BOTH groups trying to maintain Ukraine as an independent nation-state.
Shep315 (1435 D)
26 May 11 UTC
Yeah but this game is set up like an actually government and Ukraine was officially Soviet, technically most Ukrainians welcomed the Nazis as liberators until they started killing civilians and deporting Jews, I mean yes they had anti-soviet partisans as well as anti-nazi ones but realistically they arent gonna be able to conquer moscow and berlin and destroy the two factions they hate
Except that Ukraine was, in 1944, granted the right to establish independent relations with other countries and to maintain its own army. This was indeed mostly nominal, as the USSR maintained practical control of the Ukrainian SSR's affairs, but the fact that the Ukr. SSR had its own vote in the UN and separate UN membership makes it such that it's not unrealistic to represent Ukraine independently.

It makes a lot more sense than having Portugal/Spain/Tunisia, Belgium/Holland/Ruhr and Rumania/Serbia/Bulgaria/Greece operating as cohesive states when there was never any such precedent for this in history.

Furthermore, the Modern map makes more sense with regard to the Hungarian plain region. In WWII that area of Europe consisted of a bunch of lesser powers which were promptly swallowed up by whatever forces showed up. The Modern map reflects this; the Crowded map creates a Great Power that simply didn't exist at the time. Combined with the existence of the Lowlands as an equal to Germany's military, you're never going to see a remotely realistic representation on that Crowded map.

Hence why I recommend the Modern map, despite certain people's distaste for it. It's obviously y'all's call, but I feel like if you want a more authentic WWII experience you'd take the Modern map.

Don't care what you think Pres. they signed up KNOWING it was crowded, not Modern, and all wanted to try it... therefore, that is what we are doing.
Shep315 (1435 D)
26 May 11 UTC
Yes but the key fact in all you said is the it happened in 1944 5 years after the wars start and 3 years after the invasion, plus like you said it was nominal as in they go against me, they get brutal invasion by the red army, i honestly think 1897 would work better Germany gets his 3 home centers and Vienna, Austria gets Budapest, Bulgaria, Rumania at least since that would represent the German satellites of Southeastern Europe, although what year are you using as a start date 1939 or 1941?
So hostile for absolutely no reason.

@Shep: No, the "key fact" in all I said is that Ukraine's somewhat-inaccurate level of autonomy is still miles ahead of "let's make the Lowlands + Ruhr, the Hungarian plain and Iberia + Tunis Great Powers in WWII."

"It makes a lot more sense than having Portugal/Spain/Tunisia, operate as cohesive states when there was never any such precedent for this in history"

Well, at one point in history Spain and Portugal did unify...;)

But yes, I agree with the rest. I'm happy to try crowded, but I might do one of my home afterwards on MD2 and test that out. Egypt being in it would also make the north african theatre, which was pretty important in WW2 (First proper axis defeat), available.

Lets try crowded before we pass judgement though.

Replacement Germany?
We need a new Germany is a World IV game: http://vdiplomacy.com/board.php?gameID=648

In a decent position, but not great. Have a strong ally but a couple strong enemies too. However, a new person might be able to change the diplomatic situation since I believe the wars were as much personal at this point as tactical.

Greek Diplomacy coasts
Souldn't Thrace have 2 coasts (east and west) in Greek Diplomacy? http://vdiplomacy.com/variants.php#GreekDip
Illium is a canal, similar to constantinople, but Thrace, equaling Bulgaria in classic, should have 2 coasts, shouldn't it?

I have a problem
Today I can't save or finalize my orders. After few seconds i push save or fnlz, the page becomes blank; you can wait hours but, although the Mozilla circle spins, nothing happens. So I reloaded the main page and tried again. I tried 10 times unsuccessful, then I tried saving 1 unit per time. Sometime it works, but it took 1 hour to complete a 9 units game. Help! Any advice?

Sengoku Discussion?
Hi. I'm interested in trying out a Sengoku game after I'm done with the game I'm in now. I'd like to read up a little about folks' experiences first, though, and I can't find any discussion here. If you've played one of these variants before, sound off and let me know what you thought.
