You don't want to see this map
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/457218478659731465/770001163185553418/diplomap.png

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could play this map? I figured it would probably be here but can't find it in the variants. (I didn't make this but I'm a big fan of it).

Advertise your NON-live games here!
In an effort to compromise the pro-ads versus anti-ads for games: Post here for your non-live games to cut down on the number of ads but still advertise games. Post game link, WTA or PPSC, and the bet. Note: this doesn't count for special rules games.

I made a big map viewer (to switch between turns easily)
I wanted a way to switch between turns while viewing the big map, so I put together this simple viewer app quickly: https://vdiplo-bigmap.netlify.app/ Hint: you can use the arrow keys to switch between turns.

I am currently playing my first game ever, so this may not make a lot of sense to the more experienced among you (which is all of you). Let me know if you find this helpful or not.

Cancel not Draw!
I wish in wDip engine there was not a possibility to vote draw when all the starting powers are alive. Cause multiple games are played by rookies and they do several seasons and press "vote Draw". In this case we have misunderstanding in variant statistics - tons of draws with no combat at all. If all powers left on the board -> it's not a draw! Game should be cancelled!!!

Minimize/hide chats with players
Hello. In a big game I may have 15-20 people i communicate with. Could the vdip people add a feature where you can hide or minimize some chats?

Why does NMRing stop you rejoining games
I can understand why there’s a temporary ban on joining new games and making games but banning you from rejoining the game you were kicked from seems like it causes even more disruption to the game in question.

Disclaimer: I’m a bit salty about missing the deadline for a game by a few minutes because I misremembered when the timer would tick over

Revising Mandate of Heaven
Its all Kaner and Amby's fault.
When you guys interviewed me for your podcast, you asked me some questions about Mandate of Heaven, a very old (20+ years?) and flawed variant of mine set in China in the Warring States period. Fixing that variant had been very low on my variant design priority list, but now many, many possible changes keep running through my head.

One item is that Mandate of Heaven has a system for inflencing neutral units, similar to what Baron Powell and Jeff Kase would later (?) implement in Ambition and Empire. My initial question is whether anyone is aware of a variant with this type of mechanic being implemented on vDip or any other platform.
Fake Al (1793 D)

I don't know of any platform that has anything like that implemented. I think it's outside the scope of the webDip adjudication software and probably others, too. Really, I think I've seen variants with anything more complicated than what's done in the Pirates variant only being played through human adjudication.
Fake Al (1793 D)

To be done in the confines of the current software, I think it would have to be done this way: the neutrals that can be influenced would have to be put together as a separate player that would always be controlled by a GM. Using dippoints or whatever system, the GM would have to determine from the players' play/direct messages what moves the neutrals should do and would put them in as if they were a player. It would have to be part human adjudication part computer adjudication. It could be done, it's just every game would require a rather active GM to control the neutrals.

Isn't A&E supported by the DPJudge? Well, it certainly supports Payola, which is quite complex (points count, bets on orders) http://uk.diplom.org
Fake Al (1793 D)

You're right, it also supports A&E.
DPJudge? Is the code written in Sumerian. ;^)
Thanks David. Glad we inspired/guilted you into having another look at it!
Took a brief look at the DPJudge website. While it says it supports A&E, the diplomatic points mechanic is not listed among the many rule modifications it says DPJudge is programmed for. Has anyone actually played A&E on the DPJudge?
CCR (1784 D)

Words from the Judge Keeper: "Yes, A&E is fully supported. Games have been played on it, but the records may have gone lost when USDP disappeared. Still, it's entirely possible to play a new game on UKDP."

It is web based platform, but not as intuitive as webdip, Unfortunately, it is not able to catch the new, younger players' attention... so we stay here, and we will continue stimulating the programmers of vdip to develop portability of such complex rules. :-)

I'm interested in creating a new game for players with 2000+ vDip points. Password protected.

If you meet this criteria let me know here that you're interested. Once we know how many players, we can decide which variant etc.
