A good game that ended in a four way draw between Rajasthan, New Foundland, Jylland, and Ishfahan (two powers from each island)! We had some great alliances, a good run for the solo, great sea and land battles, and a lot of good moves towards the mid and endgame. Interesting in this variant that everything hinges on gaining some control of the larger island, since the only way to achieve a solo is to own at least a share of those ports. I thought Rajasthan played really well, and for what it's worth, I would have made a run for the solo in the end too, as I thought Ishfahan gave up a bit too much positioning during his blackmail of the Jylland/New Foundland, who had made the play to eliminate him from the draw. Although I thought the ploy was really good, ultimately proven so by his success in remaining in the draw.
I think it would be interesting to have the transform option in this variant. Also, someone should rename all the sea spaces, as North North West Ocean supports North West Ocean to North North West Sea leaves way too many opportunities for mistakes.
