It's not very impressive as a majority are not really that great imo. Some are even free wins when my irl are just having fun and testing the waterd

in your defense, while i've played a lot of Cold War games, i've had my share of not so good opponents

Regarding when to start though, I don't say whenever as long as it is 24 hr turns

The TD said that the phases will be 36 to 48 hours. I don't want to play unless the turns are at least 36 hours.

Phases will be between 36 and 48 hours. The exact number will be decided on a group by group basis. If you will not play with phases longer than 24 hours, start your own tournament.

@Mittag Maucat beat me in the final of 2018’s Cold War tournament. Maucat will be in Pot 1 regardless, as stated before.

@Individual: Now that we are at 16 players, I will start the tournament. . . once interest slows a bit. Players are still signing up.

TO THE CONSPIRACY QUESTIONS: Wins on Conspiracy DO COUNT. Add them to your totals. If anyone thinks your win total is inflated, they will likely have a shot at you in the knockout stage. Then we will see exactly how good each player is.

I will be modifying the requirements for progressing from the group stage to include some wild cards, to account for the fact that some groups may be more difficult than others.

So how exactly does the round robin play in work? Everybody plays each other and different powers?

Say we end up with 24 players. Here’s what I would do with that number.

Those 24 are sorted into four pots. One player from each pot is in each group. Therefore there would be six groups of four. Each group member will play their fellow group members twice: once as NATO and once as the USSR. That means each player will play six games in the group stage.

The top two by win-loss total will advance from each group. If it’s a 24-player field, the top four third-place players would also advance to make it a 16-player SINGLE-ELIMINATION bracket. No double-elim nonsense, although I’m open to the idea of a consolation bracket.

TL,DR: You play each player in your group twice, once as each power.

Sounds like a good plan. Do you play the 6 games one at a time?

@umbletheheep: No. You play two at a time, followed by the next two, and concluded by your last two games.

SPECTATORS: If anyone wishes to spectate the games of this tournament, but doesn’t want to play, post in this thread or PM me. I can set up scheduled, staggered start times for matches if spectator interest is significant.

Sorry lads I've been a bit impulsive in joining. I've decided to withdraw from the tournament: I forgot I'm supposed to go on holiday next week. My father in law owns a cabin in the woods and I don't want to feel the urge to check my phone all the time while I'm there.
