Changes to the Reliability System
The Reliability System has been updated now to address the issues introduced with the missed turn schema some months ago.
tobi1 (1956 D Mod (S) (B))

There is a new game setting which enables 'excuse regaining'. The game creator can now set an amount of phases. Whenever you play that amount of phases consecutively without any missed deadline you will gain an excuse back due to your reliable play within the last phases. This way even very large variants should be playable for members again, who will miss a phase here and there, without the need of setting an immense number of overall excuses.

Further more the sanctions for too many unexcused misses have been changed. Instead of temporary bans up to a year, you will only receive temporary bans up to a week, just forcing you to calm down a bit and leave the games impacted by the unreliable play. In addition to the temporary bans the game limits were introduced again that we once had together with the integrity rating. So whenever you miss too many phases unexcused, the system will now force you to limit the amount of games (2-player variants excluded).
Records of unexcused misses are considered for up to a year. So also game limits might stay up for a long time. But similar to the old integrity rating you can now lift the sanctions by compensating an unexcused miss. From now on every take-over of an open position will reduce the counter of unexcused misses by one.

However, finding an open spot should now be hard again. As on webdip taking over an open position now costs you nothing. You neither have to bet any D-points nor do you have to fear any loss in your vPoint rating: If your final score would be negative for a game you took over, loss-prevention will activate and you will not lose anything. Together with the fact, that a replacement can now even regain excuses in most game settings, taking open spots should be much more interesting again.

Thanks to everyone who helped to identify the problems the missed turns caused here on vdip with its special conditions. I hope most concerns could be resolved.

What will happen to those who are already currently banned for up to a year? Will those bans be removed?

Fantastic change! Whoever saves a game's balance and fun despite joining later than everybody else deserves the free ticket. Good job!

Is there any way you can make it so that password protected games are exempt from the limit? It seems strange for me to be barred from playing a game with my friends that I have been specifically invited to join just for missing a few moves in other games.

Territory is a supply center on the smallmap, isn't on the big map.
Am I going crazy? I'm looking at the Africa variant at https://vdiplomacy.com/variants.php?variantID=83. As far as I can tell, on the smallmap, the Uganda territory is marked as a supply center, while it isn't on the bigmap.

Territory graph
Here we got a "Territory graph module" which can be seen after the game finished.

The problem is that I can understand how to make it work with variants where we got additional powers (neutrals, upc, etc). With variants in which all powers are playable all is good. Please help... cause it's our common work to do WD better!

Not able to choose SoS scoring
When I create a game, I can only choose from WTA and PPSC. Here (https://vdiplomacy.com/points.php#DSS) it says that SoS scoring is available and PPSC was discontinued. This doesn't seem the case. How can I choose SoS for my game?

Advertise your NON-live games here!
In an effort to compromise the pro-ads versus anti-ads for games: Post here for your non-live games to cut down on the number of ads but still advertise games. Post game link, WTA or PPSC, and the bet. Note: this doesn't count for special rules games.

Variants to Port to webDip
I won Zultar's (webDip co-owner) New Year's prize, which is getting to pick three variants, of which they'll pick one (if possible) to port over. I don't play many variants, so I'm asking the experts:
What are three popular, stable variants that don't have much—if anything, in terms of special rules, (basically nothing that involves messing with the adjudicator, since it is a big, scary, complex bit of code)—that you would want to see included on webDiplomacy.net?

Looking for a 1600 game
Hello, I’m new here and have been out of pbem Diplomacy for awhile but I would love to get in on the next game of the 1600 variant here. Is there a way I can sign up for a game starting in the future? How does it work around here?

Thanks for any help.

How do points work?
I am confused on points. I know that there is 2 types. The points that allow you to play x amount of games. And the points that show how good of a player you are. How does the whole bet thing work?

Rating question
Hi! New to forums and fairly new to this game, I was wondering how the rating system works. I understand generally that we gain points for draws and solos, and lose them for defeats and survivals, but how is it determined how much we gain or lose?

Lose less points when you replace a player?
Should we really lose as many points when let's say. You replace a player who is in a decent position. Only to upon entering the game automatically start in a terrible position. And then lose 20 points in a game you had 0 chance of surviving in. Should you really lose those 20 points? What If you lost less points when replacing a player to make it less damaging when you start in terrible positions. What you guys think?

The IST province in modern Europe
It appears that there are two IST provinces (Istria and Istanbul). For Istria, that doesn't look like Italy's modern borders, especially as it removes Slovenia's existing coast in today's world.

Improving Fog Of War
Fog of war applies to a few maps, classic, 1998, and such; but it seems like a simple add in. How hard would it be to get FoW as a setting rather than variant property? I would think there are many maps and games I would like to try with it, but it's only on a few things. There are also some variants like Rat Wars, that can only be done in FoW. Just wondering if this was a possibility?

Was the Munich Agreement a British diplomatic coup in 1938?
Neville Chamberlain died on 11/9/1940. Chamberlain's brother had won the Nobel Prize for Locarno, which has explicitly stated that the UK viewed Germany's Eastern border open for revision and was only committed to defending Germany's Western border. Other than getting Hitler's signature on an agreement that he then violate in less than 6 months, I see no other way that Chamberlain could have gotten a treaty with Poland ratified or instituted peace time conscription in a democratic society.
