Tip: (based on absolutely no experience with this game) Don't play a stupid declining power!

Tip:(with no experience at Ottoman Empire but some with the game) Ally with everyone you can then you should be safe enough to leave his protection...

I need to know a few things about your game (unfortunately I don't own the game, but have played it enough to be comfortable with how to play. As America I once took over France to become the second world power in the 1850s):
1. So what are the Political and Economic Ideologies of your country:
What social reforms are in place?
Is the People's Union state capitalist, interventionist or laissez-faire?

2. What is the economic strength of your country:
How many profitable factories do you current posses?
How many unprofitable factories do you currently posses?
Of the unprofitable factories how many of them are under half staffed AND were opened in the last year?
How much revenue and what tax rates have you set for each class?
How much are you spending on subsidies, stockpiling, social programs etc?

3. How close are you to regaining great power status:
What's your military, prestige and industry scores compared with the military prestige and industry of 8th power (I'm going to take a guess and say its Belgium since they normally are the ones to over take the Ottomans in my games, but correct me if I am wrong)

4. How advanced are you:
What year is it? What techs do you have? What techs are you researching? What percentage of your population are clergymen and clerks in comparison to the max of each to maximize tech rate?

5. I have never played as a satellite so are there any prestige limiters or anything else I need to know about you being one? Why would leaving leave you in the ropes? Your best bet is to probably ally with Germany/Prussia and/or Austria (Central Powers FTW!) if your scared of Russia attacking you. If your scared of anyone else attacking you then don't be. Your a world power (almost) and so not many nations would want to attack you.

6. Do you have AHD, if so I haven't play it so my advice might not be as good...

7. Where did you torrent the game? This is just cause I can't find any working torrents and so can't get the game... :(

If you didn't torrent it then I would advise going to paradox plaza where there are more experienced Victorians... (in order to post on the plaza you need to provide a proof of purchase for the game, so you can't post if your torrented)

@gman314 That's the fun thing about the Ottomans you can really get Turkey moving. The only thing really holding me back from becoming the 5 ot 6th most powerful country is the fact my population can't read. If I was at the level of France or Germany I would be dominate with a vast array of raw materials and a good amount of factories .
As it is only a some factories actually have workers

@fasce340 let me rephrase that; I have the version on steam however if you want a good torrent try the pirate bay (if you are willing to do so)

if you got if off steam then I would recommend taking this question to paradox plaza...

The last time I checked TPB for vic 2, I couldn't find any that worked. :(

my next advise is to go with your gut and have fun.

I find knowing the game mechanics and stuff for these kinda games sorta ruins the fun...
