A game where I am allowed to Meta-Game? O.o
Competition between you and your friends sure is fun, but sometimes its great to team up with them and conquer the world together. Well, if your looking for a game where you can do that then look no further. Sometime next week a game will be starting where you and one friend can team up to conquer the world. It will be a WWIV variant with two day phases. All that is required is that you message the creator, me, what country you are teaming up with.

I would like to run a Bourse Diplomacy game.

The link to the variant is here:
http://www.dip2000.com/index3.php?id=static/diprules/bourse

- A Diplomacy Bourse is associated with a Diplomacy game, and runs parallel with it.
- Any number of players may participate. Each begins with 1000 units of currency of each country in the game: Austrian Crowns, English Pounds, French Francs, German Marks, Italian Lire, Russian Roubles and Turkish Piastres. All currencies are equal at the start, each being worth $1 US. Throughout the game the value of currencies is expressed in Dollars.
- Orders are in two parts, buying and selling. Players may never sell more than 500 units of any one currency at one time, but may buy as many as he may afford. Any surplus after purchases may be retained as a Dollar balance against future purchases. There is no limit to the number of dollars that may be withdrawn from this balance at one time, but it may never go into deficit.
- Each time 100 units of a currency are sold its value in relation to the dollar drops 1¢. Thus if in the first season the total of all orders results in 500 more Marks being sold than bought the price of the Mark for the following season would be $0.95. Each time an aggregate of 100 units is bought the price rises similarly by 1¢. Only complete multiples of 100 units affect the price - thus if 299 more Marks were bought than sold its value would rise by only 2¢.
- Each season the GM will list who bought and sold what, old and new prices, players' holdings and Dollar surpluses, and their net worth.
- When a country is eliminated from the Diplomacy game (i.e. when its Winter supply centre holding is 0), the value of its currency drops to zero and all trading in that currency ceases. Other than this, the value of a currency may never fall below 1¢. There is no upper limit to the value of a currency.
- Players may join a Bourse at any time, and will receive 1000 units of every currency still in circulation. Players are expected to play under a pseudonym.
- When the associated Diplomacy game ends, each Bourse player's "Victory Points" will be calculated as follows: for each currency in which he has a holding, the number of blocks of 100 units of currency multiplied by the number of supply centres owned by that country in the Diplomacy game. Thus if Turkey wins with 18 centres, with France on 14 and England on 2, and a player has 6000 Pounds, 10,000 Piastres and 4000 Francs, then his VPs would be 120+1800+560 = 2480. The GM will endeavour to maintain running totals of Victory Points during the middle and end game.
- Orders may not be made conditional. If orders are incorrect or illegal, the GM will adjust them in accordance with what he discerns to be the player's wishes. Players are asked to check adjudications for errors, since the Diplomacy game will not normally be delayed on account of Bourse errors. Players are also requested to include details of their calculations with their orders.
- Players in the accompanying Diplomacy game may not participate in the Bourse.

if you would
a) like to sign up for playing Bourse please list your intention to do so below
b) if you would like to sign up for playing a game that will be 'Boursed' please sign below
----Please indicate which preference you would prefer (A or B)----

some vDip rules:
1. players of Bourse will PM me (the GM) their order for the seasn being played
1a. the order can be made only once per season

2. after each season the players will receive an updated list of their holdings in the bourse
2a. due to issues re: anonymity the players will not be able to compete in the bourse under a pseudonym.

@fasces: I've found this site: http://www.brettspielwelt.de/Spiele/Imperial/?nation=en
It's German, but I don't know, if you have to communicate with others in this game (as I don't know it) or if there are English-spoken games, too.

I like this idea of a Bourse Diplomacy Game. I'd like to join group A, too.

kaner, I'm having some doubt about the mechanic of the market... especially about item #3. So everyone has an 8th account in US$? Since it starts from 0$, the first turn you can't buy more than you sell, right? Or what you sell must always balance what you buy?

How about a small example of what a player can do? Just first 2 or 3 seasons...

what does WTA, "NMR-extend:1 turn / 1 time "mean
kaner406 (2061 D Mod (B))
15 May 12 UTC
ok. bear in mind this is my first time with experience playing this variant, but yes the way I read the Rules is that everyone has an 8th account in $US (worth 0$). However players have net worth. If a player wishes to buy a currency then he must first sell another to make a 'floating' fund. If the players buys less that he sells, then he has $US dollars for use in future transactions.

pre-game:
Austrian Crowns: $1
English Pounds: $1
French Francs: $1
German Marks: $1
Italian Lire: $1
Russian Roubles: $1
Turkish Piastres: $1

player 1 (&2) holds, and has a net value of $7000:

Austrian Crowns: 1000
English Pounds: 1000
French Francs: 1000
German Marks: 1000
Italian Lire: 1000
Russian Roubles: 1000
Turkish Piastres: 1000

Spring 1901:
(Sell orders First!)
(Private PM to GM)
Player 1:
Sells 400 Russian Roubles
Buys 300 German Marks

Player 2:
Sells 400 French Franks
Buys 150 Russian Roubles
Buys 200 German Marks
------------------
Spring 1901 Result:
Austrian Crowns: $1
English Pounds: $1
French Francs: -$0.96 (400 units sold)
German Marks: +$1.05 (500 units bought)
Italian Lire: $1
Russian Roubles: - $0.98 (250 units sold more that bought)
Turkish Piastres: $1

Player 1 now holds and has a net worth of $6953, and floating $US100 :
Austrian Crowns: 1000
English Pounds: 1000
French Francs: 1000
German Marks: 1300 (*1.05 = 1365)
Italian Lire: 1000
Russian Roubles: 600 (*0.98 = 588)
Turkish Piastres: 1000

Player 2 now holds and has a net worth of $6963, and floating $US50 :
Austrian Crowns: 1000
English Pounds: 1000
French Francs: 600 (*.96 = 576)
German Marks: 1200 n(*1.05 = 1260)
Italian Lire: 1000
Russian Roubles: 1150 (*.98 = 1127)
Turkish Piastres: 1000
-------------------

One more point - because $US - don't count towards Victory points, at the end of the game any floating $US, will be lost.

Replacement player for the UK and Amazon needed. If someone will be nice enough, the UK isn't in a bad position. This is a team game, and you'd have to respect that, I guess.

Also is there already a thread advertising countries in civil disorder needing to be replaced? If not, should there be a forum thread just for advertising inactive countries?

Creating Teams into variant maps
Until now every Variant maps considers each player independent and able to fight any other automatically.
But could be interesting to develop a way to create forced alliance teams, just like a country split into groups unable to fight each others (being the same nation...) but able to be controlled by different players?
Into the game they could then choose if cohoperating or acting separately, but never being able to steal SCs each others nor dislodging armies and so on...
