08 Dec 23 UTC Gg, I had a headstart and from that point on it was just snowball.

I haven’t followed any other games of this variant, but from my point of view this is a very unbalanced map at least for a gunboat. Laos is in such a awkward position where they have to defend right from the start with almost no possible comeback. North Vietnam is almost always forced to always push south, which immediately makes them and South Vietnam enemies. Cambodia has a good start based on their communication skills, Thailand as well. South Vietnam feels neutral.

I would consider giving North Vietnam another path to choose from as they have only two options now. I would balance Laos starting position regarding Pakxe.

Otherwise thanks for the game to all!

08 Dec 23 UTC sorry for double send
09 Dec 23 UTC Ive played this variant a few times.

In Gunboat,

Nearly always Thailand or Nth Vietnam wins.

Laos is a basket case, Cambodia its just a mattrer of time and Sth Vietnam gets a big longer.

Messaging brings a slight improvement in balance but it only takes one rookie or rogue nation that is unaware of the balance of power and the above comes back into play like a collapsing house of cards.
15 Dec 23 UTC Fake Al (Gamedirector): Have you played it on diplicity? The implemented it here so that the original creator could get some more feedback.
15 Dec 23 UTC Yes I played on Diplicity probably 10 times.
