You all really want to play this variant anonymous gunboat? Not very fun if you draw a minor power. I can set one up like that, but think we should also set up a normal press game with..... 48(?) hour turns?

I hear what you’re saying, normal press games are definitely more immersive and give better chances to powers that have initial disadvantages. That being said, anon gunboat just fits my life better at the moment - it’s a game type to which I can make a long term commitment.

I'd be happy with either, but I agree with SimonPW that it is certainly a lot easier to keep on top of stuff with gb. More so, though, I feel like in such a large variant its going to be hard as a larger power to justify keeping smaller powers alive without communication

Either full press or gunboat works for me, but I prefer to play this variant as WTA or unrated. In past experiences with the PPSC format, far too many solos occur unnaturally because the second and thrid place finishers score enough points to colloborate with the winner.

I could be wrong, but the impression I got from Lex was that the games would only be ranked within the "league" rather than on vDip. All games would be unrated on the website but there would be a separate ranking/leaderboard just for us.

On the scoring.... I've been thinking. I don't know how well this would work, but maybe something like

1st place gets 40 points + percent share (%/) of scs
2nd place gets 30p + %/ of scs
3rd place gets 20p + %/
4th gets 10p + %/
All others remaining get their %/, and if only 3/2/1 people remain, all the added points from the other high placers are split EVENLY among them

3 players remain
1st gets %/+44p
2nd gets %/+33p
3rd gets %/+23p

2 remain:
1st gets %/ +65p
2nd gets %/ +35p

1 remains
1st gets 200p

which means 200 points are scored per game if all neutral scs are captured

The solo condition is absolute domination or the other remaining nations surrendering if 1 power has an absolute majority eg if 3 players remain, one of which has a %/ of over 50, then if both of the others surrender, then the first player can win.

However, this would lead to an outcome like this (10p taken from winner if you surrender)

1st 180p
2nd 10p
3rd 10p

I myself am kind of weary about how well this would work, but it might be what we're looking for with some modification

Also I don't quite know how some of these systems would work on vDip

Full Press is probably most fair in this variant especially, plus usually more fun overall. While gb would have some benefits imo, I do agree with you guys for the most part, so lets go with full press
