25 Nov 23 UTC GameMaster: Someone has taken over France replacing "heruighi". Reconsider your alliances.
28 Nov 23 UTC Good game all. Byzantines were the only ones who put up a determined fight against me, especially as I made a blunder in trying to take Buda and Pest before I had enough units around to resist an attack (got a bit greedy), this partially removed my Southern defenses. Thankfully I managed to kill Sverige on land quickly so I can turn my focus South. Danmark briefly tried to fight me, but stopped for unknown reasons (perhaps because you were mostly navy and couldn't expand much against me?) Even still, the fight against byzantine would probably have come out to a stalemate did they not make two strange decisions on their part: suddenly withdrawing from Transylvania in 954 and thus ceding the strategic initiative to me, and disbanding only in Turkey in 955. I suppose both were because of the threat posed by Burgundy, but I think that especially the second decision was not well thought out given how close I was to a solo, you should have immediately made peace with them. The attack on Norge was just the cherry on top; if Byzantine didn't make these two decisions, I would have had to get the last few SCs needed from the North.
28 Nov 23 UTC I had a crack but played well the Slavic Nation is a force to be reckoned with.

This was my first war on this map and to be honest I actually hadn't taken notice of the fact you only need 28 SC for a win. I'm not a Greenhorn but never the less it is a rookie error to not note the finish line. Lesson learned.

I thought I had more time .

I ceded Transylvania thinking that I would move that critical mass of units to the east taking Italy (ultimately a poor decision on my behalf). That was in the throes of happening, but I screwed up and the consequence was it delayed a year. Well defended Burgundy.

As for Turkey disbands, I had come to the realisation that NO
ONE in the north was offering a shred of resistance, like Italian tanks they were built with one gear in forward and 12 in reverse. Compounding this was the problem that Burgundy or France had no intentions of engaging the Slavic Nation. Reminding me of General Patton quote " He would rather 1 divisions of German troops in front of him than 3 divisions of French troops behind him"

With the Slavs getting 4 and 5 builds a year the writing was on the wall
28 Nov 23 UTC Yeah Danmark and Norge's war to the death was understandable, but certainly gave me plenty of room to nab SCs left and right. I wouldn't even have thought of doing anything in the North if their fighting wasn't so vicious, since it should have been easy in theory for Norge to defend our narrow front. I even sailed unhindered into Dublin at the end. Especially strange for Danmark since they had previously already showed their capacity for making peace, as they suddenly stopped attacking me. Although it worked out fine for them in the end, in fact StabbyMcStabbyface got more vDip points than me just by surviving! I must say I'm slightly miffed about this.
28 Nov 23 UTC How does that work?

Another thing I need to research and understand far better obviously.
28 Nov 23 UTC probably cuz I have more to start with, so beating y'all is like what I'm "supposed to do" by the system
28 Nov 23 UTC I agree.

You solo won the war and you got less than a mere survivor. Its nonsensical.

You should have been playing to lose but survive. Ridiculous.

However not knowing intimately how this result is thrown up I should temper my criticism and hopefully someone can explain this with some logical and sensible reasoning. Tough task just like the Australian Labor Party trying to convince Australians to change their constitution in 2023.
28 Nov 23 UTC GG Slavic. Well played. First time playing Sverige and boy are they a terrible nation to play. I've never seen anyone do well with them and now I know. You're outnumbered from the start against Slavic Nations and most likely have Norge attacking you from the other side as well. Sverige definitely needs a rework. Looking at past games they definitely are the worst faction in this variant.
28 Nov 23 UTC Gg Slavic nations !
@eRe Solo is at 26 !
28 Nov 23 UTC congratulations to the Slavic people, I underestimated the danger. initially I was happy to have built a good base in the north. the landing in Spain and the conquest of Sweden gave me the resources to stand up to the Danes in England. when I became aware of the Slav advance I had no way to oppose it. I hoped that the Danes would understand the danger but our fight was too advanced and my house of cards fell.
