21 Nov 22 UTC | Spring, 1903: This is my first time on this map. It seems that the western player has far more neutrals available for uncontested pickup than the eastern. As I count it now, I have only one neutral wihtin range, Naples, and that can be contested, while you have 6-7. You don't need to do anything more to win than you already have and someone I must break through to Spain... doesn't seem quite right. |
21 Nov 22 UTC | You’re right, the variant statistics are in favor of Frankenland. I believe a competent western player should generally win or at least draw. It is possible to win as Juggernaut, an important strategy is to forfeit SCs in favor of advancing your units. This is especially true in the Med and to a lesser extent in Scandinavia. But it’s a balance, because you also need the unit builds of course. This is my third game on this map, I may play a few more and then decide if it’s balanced enough. Thanks for playing, good game. |
21 Nov 22 UTC | Clearly you are a competent player so I cannot expect to rely upon serious oversight on your part. The problem with your suggested strategy is that single units cannot hold centres in advance of their own line. Even if I did rush out to grab an extra early centre, I'd lose it soon afterwards. |
21 Nov 22 UTC | Yeah well nothing I could do about that. Thanks for the game but I won't beplaying this variant again. |
