20 Jul 21 UTC | Firstly, thanks all for the game. Secondly, Italy you were a great ally (who I should not have stabbed and would not normally except I hadn't won a game in ages) but an even better opponent. You out-thought me consistently and despite the odds being stacked heavily in my favour it took so long to defeat you I twice considered going for the draw as I was driven back in the North. No surprise when the names were revealed at the end that I was playing some great names from Vdiplomacy! Thanks for the game and apologies again to Italy - I will return to my normal mode of happily playing for a draw with an ally with no thoughts of a solo! |
20 Jul 21 UTC | That was an really great game! No problem Joe everything is fine. But I have to sag I didnt expect your stab anymore. Thanks to France. I loved your switch to freindly to me as you saw that I am get attacked by Austria. Thanks for letting me Ediburgh. I made some mistakes in the endgame. I need a break. 2 games left and then is free summer time. Thanks and good game |
20 Jul 21 UTC | Yes good game everyone. Italy you got me off to the nightmare start of no gains with the Piedmont move. It's been ages since I played classic and thought Venice was a fleet so didnt see that move as a possibility. Dangers of hidden map I guess. Outside of that I made 2 big mistakes. First I let the Italian fleet through to the Atlantic, I got lucky that you didnt fully capitalize on it against me but instead hit England. Then I had a move one turn that would have liberated Marseille but changed my support to helping Germany forgetting about Marseille. Obviously everything changed once Austria stabbed italy and I had to pivot back north. I did get to the point where I was considering going for a solo myself. I set myself up a few times to take 5 centers in 2 years from Germany and Italy, but not knowing how close Austria was stopped me from doing that. I would have only tried it if I was positive it would work. It was a fun one. I'm sorry to have cast my draw so early, from everything I had vision of the region was stalemated for a few years and figured it may have been like that elsewhere on the board |
