14 May 21 UTC	Well played, everyone! It was a fun game. I was extremely impressed by the speed at which those final few turns progressed – I hope to play more games with the 3 of you in the future. Egypt, you were an incredible ally. I never wanted to turn on you, and I was hoping you’d be willing to allow me to keep Iberia while supporting you into British seas (you may have noticed in spring 2009 my fleets in Navarra and Portugal were supporting you into MAO). My dream was for you to conquer the UK and Russia, while I took over Poland and the Baltic states, having us both end up at 32 centers. Alas, that probably would’ve been tough to pull off even in a full press game, much less gunboat. Still, you played an excellent game and I appreciate all the assistance you provided against Spain & Ukraine. I apologize for the solo attempt, which was a long shot at best. In hindsight, I should have ignored Britain and focused on finishing off Russia with you, turning this into a 3-way draw. Russia, I was really counting on another NMR for you, or for you to stubbornly refuse to make peace with Egypt, or to retaliate against Britain for taking Scandinavia. Unfortunately for me, you played those final turns perfectly. Great game! Britain, you gave me false hope when you allowed me to steal Holland/Belgium/Hamburg. But you dug your heels into the Atlantic, and I knew my solo attempt was over when you reclaimed Holland. Spain, if you hadn’t insisted upon unprovoked aggression towards me, I think we could’ve easily had a three way draw with Egypt. I was even willing to overlook your decision to steal Tunis, but then you continued to move east rather than north and that was that.

14 May 21 UTC	Absolute key move - or non-move - was Russia not retaliating for me taking Scandinavia. Most (weaker) players would have done so, but I took the gamble and frankly didn’t have a choice. I needed to replace lost SCs and Russia could manage without 2 extra - amd I could sense Egypt about to back off Russia as Italy got too strong. @Italy. I didn’t want to give you Ham/Hol. And actually just before I took Scandinavia I needed Russia to move to Bhm to support Ham. As always with gunboat - I can see what I need is to do together but impossible to fully communicate. I knew I was going to lose them at that point and so I just had to clog up the Atlantic. Very touch and go. But just managed to shuffle the fleets enough - with Russia seeing the idea and going along. Thanks for the game all. (Had several disappointments recently being the last eliminated from the draw! So glad this wasn’t another)
