16 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1800: (Aladeen): OK. If you want this information again, just click on the map info above (where it says "1800- Empires and Coalitions"). There are special little rules for each map and I'll paste the ones for this map below. I haven't played this map before, so we're mostly on equal footing.

Special rules/information:

1800: Empires and Coalitions is set at the beginning of the French Consulate after Napoleon toppled the French Assembly in the coup of the 18th Brumaire.

It is a 9-player variant with major and minor powers. The status of a major or minor power in this variant is based on the number of men mobilized during the Napoleonic Wars. Any power that exceeded 300,000 men during the course of the many conflicts or was a known militarized power begins the game with 3 or more units (this is done with historical flare, but the game map has been carefully tailored to hopefully reflect excellent balance based on this game mechanic).

The major powers in this category are France (4 SC’s), Britain (4 SC’s), Russia (4 SC’s), Austria (3 SC’s), and Prussia (3 SC's). The minor powers of 1800 consist of any nation that mobilized 100-300,000 men during the course of the wars or were strategically significant. These include Denmark, Spain, the Ottoman Empire, and Sicily (all 2 SC’s). The status of major or minor powers only affects initial setup and has no bearing on the course of the game after the first turn.

The start date is Spring 1800.

Gibraltar is passable and considered a coastal space where movement by both fleets and armies is possible. Gibraltar is not a SC, but contains a British fleet supplied from Liverpool. Gibraltar also divides the coastline of Andalusia, but does not break up the coast of Morocco. Gibraltar is considered a sea space for convoys and does not border Morocco for land movement.
There are land bridges connecting Edinburgh (Edi) and Ireland (Ire), Naples (Nap) and Palermo (Plm), Constantinople (Con) and Angora (Ang).
The Aegean Sea and Black Sea do not border one another. In order for a fleet to move from one to the other it must move along the coastline of either Constantinople or Angora through the Sea of Marmara (which is not represented as a sea space on the map). A fleet moving from either the Aegean or Black Seas into the other must first capture or move through Constantinople or Angora before proceeding.
Sweden is considered to have one coast and is not interrupted by the space of Copenhagen.
The spaces of Andalusia (Spain), Papal States, Schleswig (Denmark), and St. Petersburg (Russia) have two coastlines.
Each minor power begins with 2 home centers at the start of the game in Spring 1800. Each minor power has a designated neutral supply center that will become a third home center upon being captured by that minor power. The additional home centers respective to each minor country are as follows: Portugal (Spain), Sweden (Denmark), Egypt (Ottoman Empire), Papal States (Sicily).
17 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1800: (pharaohblue): Where’s America?
18 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1800: Privet, everyone.
This is Catherine the Great of Russia. I'd like to assure you all I'm entirely peaceable and have no interest in rampaging through the continet.
Lyubit, Russia.
18 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1800: So you should see the chats up above so you can have private conversations with allies or foes. I suggest talking to everyone to try and gather as much info as you can - it's valuable. Even if you have no interests in common with them, you may get info from them that will help you in some way.
18 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1800: I sent you each a note so you can see how it works. You should absolutely take people's personal relationships into account in this game - knowing that Spain and France are married may give you insight into their moves.
18 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1800: Next thing - if you scroll down, you can see either a couple of exclamation marks, a grey check, or a green check by each country. The exclamation marks means that person still needs to put in orders, the grey one means they've put in orders but still may change them as information comes in, and the green one means they're ready to move to the next turn. The game moves to the next turn when everyone's mark is green or when 24 hours is up.
18 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1800: It appears I sent private messages to many of you. I don’t know how to check them, but they were meant to be in the game chat specific to you.
18 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1800: I will say, my marriage in real life does not play a factor here.
18 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1800: *rolls eyes* gonna be a long 2 months Spain.
18 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1800: I figure since people are still learning the ropes, we can do a couple of turns to let people get the hang of it and then start a new one with people who like the game? France, in particular, seems to have had a tough start.
19 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1800: I don't see that England tried to convoy anything. It looks like dan screwed up trying to move from hanover to Bat which aren't connected, but I don't see any missed convoys.
20 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1800: But it looks like he was trying to convoy from Hanover to Bat per his orders for that army. Could the issue be that his order for the north sea fleet was hold instead of convoy?
20 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1800: I'm guessing that's what happened. To convoy, you need to order every ship in the line to convoy and you need to tell the army that is going to convoy.
20 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1800: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.
20 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1800: If anyone knows Mitch, prod him, eh?

I think those who are more avid may start a new game that moves more quickly. This was always gonna be a trial run.
21 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1801: GameMaster: Spain voted for a Draw. If everyone votes Draw the game will end and the points are split equally among all the surviving players, regardless of how many supply centers each player has.
22 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1801: are we calling a draw to end this game and starting a new one?
22 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1801: Yes, Spain and France are bowing out
22 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1801: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.
23 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1801: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.
