06 Feb 20 UTC Fun game, thanks all!
06 Feb 20 UTC GG France, you did well.

Austria, almost any scenario where Austria and Italy fight each other never benefits either party. Just a small tip.

Turkey, once you saw Austria was trying to shift troops to stop France, you should have stopped attacking him. Instead you continued your attack, and ensured he couldn't have the troops to hold off France.
06 Feb 20 UTC Lol thanks for the tip, I’m new around here. Not exactly a standard game with a standard start, was it? Spot on with the rest through.

Nice job Rancher, congrats.
06 Feb 20 UTC "I’m new around here" :) LOL cracking me up ...
06 Feb 20 UTC LOL haha
06 Feb 20 UTC @Italy:
I was just angry and desperate about Russia. I let him alive in Ankara and he took Con in 1907 without to be able to build a new unit. And because of that I played the last rounds a bit crazy (and maybe before aswell).
And by the way it was my plan that you reach Smyrna respectively I exspected that you move to Ion and to my home centers. And I thought its funny that Russia and Italy had my home centers and we should work together from now on BUT then Russia took Con...
GG
07 Feb 20 UTC It’s always tougher in gunboat to get everyone pulling in the right direction to stop a solo, and existing conflicts tend to echo beyond the critical turns. But yeah, more awareness is needed to recognize when a solo becomes probable. A draw was readily available in this game.

Even so, credit where it’s due: well done Rancher. A +242 from a Classic-based win, that’s gotta feel good!

KINGIVANOV, I was really wishing we could send messages about Preventing France from pushing further east. So tough to orchestrate with guesses.

rannjohnson, I’m sorry if my retort above came off as too grumpy — I too was a bit frustrated at the inability to prevent the solo. You’re absolutely correct of course, it drives me nuts when I’m Austria or Italy and the other one attacks me early. In full press, I always prioritize a partnership there. In gunboat I always sacrifice a movement or two to display supports and try to communicate my goodwill.

I just wanted to point out that this is a game of 1897, and with the alternate starting dynamics I chose an aggressive approach. I don’t think it was wrong in this case, even in hindsight. I was off to a good start through four or five years, and ultimately I don’t think it was you and I that allowed the solo anyway.

Fun game, cheers to Rancher, and I’ll be happy to play more if anyone sets ‘em up.
07 Feb 20 UTC I’ll play more ... and I’d like to thank the Academy, Jesus, my mother, my lawyer, my agent ;)
07 Feb 20 UTC @Turkey Sorry! I'm brand new & jumped into ongoing game. Too dumb to realize how close France was.
07 Feb 20 UTC Well look at that. Happy First Completed Game, MerryB! Welcome to vdip.
