Brainstorming about the extend-vote
What's your thoughts about the current state of this feature?

The idea of the extend is meant to prevent NRMs and spoil the game. Using this as a diplomatic tool is not an option. That's why the mods usually extend games on request. The 3/4-majority is just introduced, so a few minor powers couldn't abuse the system to take a game on hostage indefinitely (and cause more work for the mods again).

Input of an alternate scoring system needed...
As the Dpoints are not an ideal way to represent a players game-strenght I'm thinking about implementing an alternate rating system (in addition to the traditional Dpoints)
Any math experts here?

I used to play an online game long ago. In the beginning, the game was exploited. A level 200 (maxed out) can team up with a level 1 toon, then kill the level 100 monsters so easily and quickly. The lowbie just stood there and get massive XP points. Then the game implement a level check, if there is such a huge difference in level (say 20), then the lowbie will not get any XP points.

Anyhoo, the idea is universal. We should learn from other true&tried systems and copied the best ideas here. And we should focus on defeat, discourage, detect cheaters.

One more thing, I was from Webdip site, and did not want to play on this site. This site is rather slow for my take. But the Webdip site had so many people swearing F-word and my eyes were sore reading those profanity. So, I am willing to put up with the slowless on this website.

A speed increased on this website would definite attract a lot more players. Note: I am not demanding adding expensive hardware. If you guys need to tune the system, talk to me. Perhaps I could research a bit and find away to help.

We need to be clear when we discuss in this thread:
1. The reward of the points.
2. The ranking from the accumulated points.

I am not into the ranking. I am focusing on the rewards of the points. While the greed to get high ranking is the drive to cheat, it's the reward which the means to get the high ranking. So, let's focus on the reward mechanics to reduce cheating.

@MeepMeep- This site has been more than tested. It follows the same points system as Webdip, which works. We have this new ranking system, which works. Our volume of people who cheat is actually really low. Instead of having hundreds of people who cheat with 2 or 3 accounts, we just happen to have a few that cheat with a lot of accounts. Cheating will always be an issue, but it is a much smaller issue here than in other communities.
Please actually read what others are saying before you start going on these wild tangents... If I remember correctly, this is the same problem that got you so disliked on webdip so quickly...

Ok, apparently I got it:

The Elo coefficient adopted in order to compare users relative strength (expected results) has been scaled from 400 to 1000.

On the other hand, the game value coefficients have been magnified by a factor 2,5 with respect to the previous status.

Right?
Oli (977 D Mod (P))

Right...
Well spotted.
The top players gained about 400 D and played quite a lot of games and I thought 400 D difference does not really represent the effort put in the games. The factor of 400 makes the players win-probability if he has 400 more points almost 92%, so the players will not gain much points by playing. comparing this with the DPoint-system you have only 400 D more, but you are a much better player.
With the new scaling players get quite a lot more points that represent their skill better (compared to the DPoints system).
The end result is exactly the same as before, just another scaling.

Also it makes rounding less a problem.

Let’s remove some spider’s webs from this thread….

I'm copying my thoughts on the V-points system referring to gameID=12198 EoG.
After some months of test, those are some of my concerns:

A)
The weight of large size games (games with a big number of opponents) is really overrated according to the current algorithm. As a consequence, the rating variations due to large game outcomes are damn too high.
We had a discussion about the game Value (gV) coefficient and how it should be.
Well, being it called game Value, I assumed it was a representation of the actual variant weight.
Unfortunately, due to the presence of the 1vs1 match results summation, the gV is taken into account multiple times.
For example, in WWIV we have a large gV coefficient, about 92. Notwithstanding being large, this coefficient is taken into account 34 times...
I'm talking on a general standpoint, I'm not particularly referring to the game on topic, since that one was PPSC with a low Victory Condition %, both factors that reduce the rating variations.

B)
The weight of gunboat should be inferior to the weight of full-press game, cause gunboat has an inherent greater luck component which leads to a greater Variance of results. I don’t think that this fact can be denied.
I mean, compared to an equivalent full press game, it is more likely to see a solo in the gunboat. At the same time it is more likely to see an "underdog" performing well and a "favorite" losing in the gunboat.
We should reduce the weight of anything affected by luck to a certain extent, gunboat included.

C)
Last, but not least...
The weight of games severely affected by Civil Disorder events should be reduced somehow. CD events are another element of luck that distorts the measure of skill… and the HoF is supposed to measure skill, isn’t it?
I wonder if some strong players in the game should've suffered such an early defeat, or if some others should've gone that far had the game not been *severely* influenced by CD.
As far as I know from the HoF tables instead, currently it works in the opposite way, since the presence of a CD adds a further separate victory on the winner (or drawers) score.
If and which way we have to reduce the weight of games affected by NMRs & CDs is up to discussion.

there're other two points whose importance is inferior to the previous 3 but still worthy to be cited:
D)
the "underkill" situation, namely games ending in a solo without before the V.C. is reached.
from the algorithm
" // If the winner does not reached the supplyCenterTarget adjust the importance of the game too "
I don't get why the underkill should be under-weighted further. For example, D-points do take into account those phenomena.
And the match values definitions do already take into account the underkill.
In any case, the bad consequence of this adjustment is the repercussion on the standings of games ending with a surrender: Concede.
The winner gets underrated.
The losers are overrated.
Concede should be actually equivalent to a WTA defeat regardless of SC belongings, as same as it is with D-points.

E)
Aborted games.
It has been said somewhere in the past.
Some games get drawn at the very beginning instead of canceled.
Should we consider not to rate games ended before year ...3?

+1 Decima Legio on points A, B, D, & E. Not sure about C, since almost every game I've played here has had at least one CD, and these include games agreed to on PM only with a lot of highly-rated players. I.e, I agree in theory with C, just not sure how well it equates to reality.

Sitter Needed June 30th-July 6th
Hello all. I'm gone on a trip from June 30th- July 6th. If anyone could watch over my account I would be very grateful. I'm in 6 games, pretty solid position in each. I hate to ask for an extend in all these games, as I see it unfair to the players. The reason I'm in many games (I've known about this trip) is because I thought where I was going had internet. This is not correct!

In Gumers's thread I proposed a no-contest vote option, which would essentially act as a cancel which keeps games on the record for later review. Oli and/or other devs, how feasible would it be to get such a voting option?
