15 Mar 18 UTC Spring, 1901: Hi again ! Thanks for setting up. Let us enjoy !
15 Mar 18 UTC Spring, 1901: en garde. this time you will taste bitter defeat!
16 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1901: FYI I'm heading into the country this weekend and may be out of internet range. I'll be home by Sunday night.
16 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1901: Touché, i can already sense the dust.
Where do you live ?
16 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1901: Sydney Aus
no dramas, the farmhouse has wifi!
16 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1902: Good it is not the end of the world although it could well be...
On our side we currently live in Congo.
16 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1902: Congo Africa? how exotic! isn't it terribly dangerous there?
17 Mar 18 UTC Spring, 1903: Congo kinshasa is indeed a dangerous place. Less kangooroos and more street harassessment and in particular more small and big times crooks.
Fortunately we live in Congo Brazzaville which is far less dangerous.
From my appartment balcony I have a splendid view over the Congo river and Kinshasa. We saw a hippo once!
Are you an Aussie ?
17 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1903: wowsers. i've never talked to somebody from Africa before. I didnt even know there are two Congo countries. I looked it up on google now. we have lots of african migrants here in Australia but they are almost all from Sudan (refugees from the war). they are in the news often for causing crime.

i have always wanted to visit Africa to see the wildlife, the giraffes are my personal favourite. also elephants and as you say hippos. but all advise is to stay clear of subsaharan africa because white people are regularly targeted and gang violence is rife. it's very sad.

yep i'm an Aussie
17 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1903: Security situation and racism against varies greatly from country to country in Sub Sahara Africa. Gang violence is indeed endemic in places like Johannesburg, Lagos or Kinshasa to name a few but I have spent nice family holidays without incidents in places like Swaziland, Mozambique, Gabon, Sao Tome and Principe, Cameroon andin general West Africa.
Btw for the clarity I am afraid I ll have to disapoint I am a French man currently posted in Africa, as a diplomat for the European Union embassy here in Brazzaville. I am not married to a African person and I have indeed experienced some racism but I would say that the overiding impression of being a white man is that you are still nexpected to have knowledge and money and therefore authority.
What do you know for a living ? I have never visited your country and have no immediate or concrete pkan to do it. But I have this idea of going walking and wine sampling in the Malborough area in NZ.
18 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1905: Do not be ridiculous it is not disappointing to speak to a Frenchman. My father was raised in the french quarter in Beirut (lebanon) and speaks the language fluently. my larder is stocked with pommery & roquefort whenever i'm paid. i spent some months in saigon (ho chi minh city) while my partner worked there which you probably know is broadly french architecture, cuisine, culture. it's a privilege to meet a frenchie! an EU representative...not so much... ;)

i'm an engineer (mechanical). my country's largest export is iron ore so our mining industry is presently undergoing an historic boom. there is a great amount of highly paid work available. australia is a great country rich in wealth & natural beauty, but i do not strongly recommend anybody come. the cost of living is too high. government restrictions on nightlife, alcohol, health&safety etc disappoint many tourists ("nanny state"). for example you cannot enter a wine bar after 1am in sydney. they are legally forced to cease alcohol sales at 3am. it's terrible.

new zealand has been in my sights for a long time. it's very easy for an Australian to travel there and the country is so rich in tourist attractions. my current partner is more interested in visiting and revisiting LA, NY, Lon, Par etc. i much prefer underdeveloped places to explore. i did a little googling on the places you recommend. The Australian consulate discourages any nonessential travel to Cameroon. however Sao Tome & especially Principe look amazing. you have me dreaming this monday morning.

i am very much enjoying this rematch. you are an expert player which means if i win or lose there is something to celebrate. merci beaucoup.
19 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1906: Enjoying very much as well this game full of suspence.
Happy to hear about the French tropism of your family.
Africa in general, unless it is muslim, is much better for booze than your home country it would seem !
Since your partner seems to be more of the urban type you could consider South Africa and in particular Cape Town and its beautiful surroundings. French Huguenots made a marvellous job with wine down there. It is safe. And I think there is a direct connection with Perth.
We had a fantistic time in Principe in a lodge called Bom Bom !
Keep dreaming. It is the best you can do before you have won this game !
19 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1908: Good game. we are equally matched
19 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1908: GameMaster: Austria voted for a Draw. If everyone votes Draw the game will end and the points are split equally among all the surviving players, regardless of how many supply centers each player has.
19 Mar 18 UTC Autumn, 1908: Well done indeed you are very close to victory pole.
One of the rule of diplomacy is however that we explore all possibilities to win.
So I think we should do so even if it takes one extra year, notwithstanding the sympathy i have for my best australian engineer!
19 Mar 18 UTC Spring, 1909: save your sympathy, frankie. bring it on.
19 Mar 18 UTC congratulations. how frustrating! i went from anticipating a win to conceding a draw to losing outright. i could slap you.
20 Mar 18 UTC Poor thing !
Since i observed that sympathy kept you going, I am trying pity ! Haha.
More seriously it was indeed a very enjoyable game. Thank you.
You made a clever move in Piemont which stopped me building in Marseilles when I needed to.
20 Mar 18 UTC alright frankie, you won Best Out Of 3, i concede you are the better player. thanks for your compliment.

i invite you to join me in a friendly game whereby i may learn advanced techniques and maybe regain some pride
