21 Feb 18 UTC | Congratulations. Good games. So, if I may ask, as i struggle with this game, what is your basic strategy for Cold War? |
23 Feb 18 UTC | First off, I don't think you are struggling at all. While I might have had the smallest of advantages in the first game, your NMR was what sealed your fate - that's all. This second game was a tossup (you even had the slight edge in that one). Two things tipped the scales: I had a better naval position in Asia (you were boxed into the corner, allowing me to move my army into Europe) and your move to take Sweden effectively cost you both W. Europe and the North Sea/London - a a 2 for 1 that was the final nail. In general, you want to always pressure home SC's in a 1v1 scenario, but, more importantly, the more you can attack and make the opponent defend, the better things will go for you. Of course it involves risk, but the adage about "the best defense is a good offense" has some merit. Also keep in mind that there is a fair amount of luck involved too. So many 50-50's that can go either way - sometimes you just get unlucky. In any case, I hope we get to play again and you can exact your revenge! |
23 Feb 18 UTC | Thanks! Yes, the NMR was dumb, I was set to strike and move out. See you next time. |
