09 Sep 17 UTC Spring, 1860: Info: This is a choose your country game.
09 Sep 17 UTC Spring, 1860: I'd be interested to see if a full-away opening works on this map :p
09 Sep 17 UTC Spring, 1860: Interesting choice, I will take a closer look this weekend.
(This is not automatic play as the standard map is...)
10 Sep 17 UTC Spring, 1860: GameMaster: Confederacy voted for a Pause. If everyone votes Pause the game stop and wait till everybody votes Unpause. Please consider backing this.
10 Sep 17 UTC Spring, 1860: GameMaster: Union voted for a Extend. If 2/3 of the active players vote Extend the the current phase will be extend by 4 days. Please consider backing this. If the majority is not reached by "Spring, 1861" the votes will be cleared.
10 Sep 17 UTC Spring, 1860: GameMaster: Per 2/3 majority vote the gamephase got extended by 4 days.
(Voters: Confederacy / Union)
11 Sep 17 UTC Autumn, 1860: Hm. I think you still actually want a fleet for the NYS open? Can force Milw in '61 to make up for UP-Ont not being a gain of a centre any more...
11 Sep 17 UTC Spring, 1861: I've long considered going for a 2-build aggressive opening, but never had the guts to try it. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.
11 Sep 17 UTC Autumn, 1861: Kind of a gambit, as we say in chess: the sacrifice of a unit for a better position.

I've been using another gambit in EvT 1v1, where England has an obvious advantage for deploying armies on the continent; as T, I skip a build with turkish fleet in order to reach tunis faster check games for the ladder tourney:
gameID=31563 gameID=31642 gameID=31782
11 Sep 17 UTC Autumn, 1861: Yeah, I tried that a few times with a friend a while back. It does change up the flow somewhat.

Interested in your decision here to risk losing WDC to a Cape May -> Chesapeake Bay cut. What were you expecting NJ to be doing?
11 Sep 17 UTC Autumn, 1861: I'd use Rich to bounce Ohio, i almost did this, you were stuck with homes unavailable, then i thought you'd open the fleets, not only to mass but maybe nj to cape; when i came back to unready this, and give a ssecond thought, for i did not consider you were not expecting 3 builds anyway, the game had just moved on...
11 Sep 17 UTC Autumn, 1861: error that is costing the positional advantage from the gambit, Thats why i should play these games slower, i tend to change minds when i come back after a good sleep... ;0
11 Sep 17 UTC Autumn, 1861: i think i lose
11 Sep 17 UTC Autumn, 1862: I'd still rate you with a positional advantage for preventing me from having home centres clear, and on this map the deciding factor is very much build limiting.
11 Sep 17 UTC Autumn, 1863: jusr time for a quick note, did you realize i misordered - miami hold? not that it would make a difference. i just keep playing instead of cncede.
11 Sep 17 UTC Autumn, 1863: I thought it might have been, but then you took Tampa anyway and I figured it might have just been 'only need to actually do something in Autumn'.
12 Sep 17 UTC GameMaster: Confederacy voted for a Concede. If everyone (but one) votes Concede the game will end and the player _not_ voting Conceede will get all the points. Everybody else will get a defeat.
